My Smith 41 or my Colt series 70 Gold cup electrolus nickel from the colt custom shop - I have had both since the early eighties or a bit before...

Jeb Stuart

Have always love this well built, solid performer. Nice mild shooting, 17 round magazine for a Compact. Always dependable.

Love mine as well! It's ergonomic grip design has always reminded me of being similar to the Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless.

For me it's a toss. Taurus PT92C or Tanfoglio Witness large metal frame 45acp. Both are with me on every range trip.

My favorite gun to shoot is my CZ RAMI but since you're looking for full size I'd have to go with P07/P09. I own a P07 but have shot a P09 to be convince they handle pretty much the same. Has the "real" feel of a hammer fired gun and at least the model I have came with the parts to switch between safety or decocker depending on you preference. Has different size backstraps to better tailor the gun to your hand as well. They have polymer frames so you can still pretend to fit in with the hip crowd too!

I have both of these CZs, they fit my club-like hands better than my BHP or 1911.

It is very difficult to pick a "favorite" semi-auto, because my preference changes with the wind... I like them all, but at the moment I'd have to go with the SIG P229r in .40S&W. This thing tames the snap of the .40 and is very accurate in SA mode. But next week it will be a different gun, I guarantee it.

Quoting myself, haha... What did I tell you, today my favorite is the G21. But my favorite to carry is still the P229r.

I've had four 1911s from various manufacturers, and while I love everything about it, I've never shot them well. I've never had one with a trigger worth raving about. No, none of them were high-end, one was a Colt. I have a BHP and the trigger sucks, but it still has the mag disconnect. Otherwise it's perfectly molded to my hand and perfectly balanced.

My favorite single-action triggers are on the Ruger Mark II and some of the DA/SA guns I've fired. Show me a 9mm with a trigger like the Mark II and I'll try it out.

Have you tried the trigger on the SAO SIGs, namely the SRTs on the Legion models? If not, you really owe it to yourself.

But my favorite to carry is still the P229r.

Not necessarily my first choice to carry but my P229R does conceal very nicely when riding in a DeSantis E-Gat OWB holster.

I've settled on Sigs with SRT triggers for carry and 1911 for the range.

I still can't shoot either one as well as my model 19 revolvers. The ergonomics seem to be perfect for me.

A friend of mine tried my Gold Cup the other day. He has about 7 pistols but no 5" 1911's. He was amazed at his group at 25 yards and so was I. I think I would have to say he shoots a 1911 better than any pistol he owns and puts me to shame. He still doesn't own one.o_O He likes his Sigs.

My favorite to shoot and last gun I'll ever part with is my Dan Wesson VBob in .45. It just fits me perfect.

Out of what I actually own it would be my Canik TP9SA.

Out of anything I've shot so far it would be a Sig 226 Legion.

My new Sig 226 Legion SAO has moved to just below my VBob in the favorite gun category.

To shoot?

Colt Python

Dan Wesson M15

Les Baer 1911 Premier II

I guess my first semiauto is third on my list.

PCR, PO-1, 75 D, P-01 Omega ALL are better than 99.9% of ANYTHING made. I have owned over 300 handguns. These 4 are the tops.

Can't say I agree.

Edit: since you didnt mention the Shadow, I'll take any of these three over the CZs listed. Though I do like the 75.

I only requested a concealed photo because we might have a fairly similar build, and also wear untucked sports shirts from May-late September.
Maybe your carry spot at about 2:00 (for me, IWB only, 10:00?) is the solution. Am 5'11" 180 lbs.

My favourite defensive gun to shoot is the P226, so I have no doubt the P229 would be a fantastic gun as well. The HK P30 V3 is also a geat option, so is the Walther P99 AS.
Another nice gun is the CZ P-01.
The Beretta Px4 is the softest shooting ugly gun in the world. I don't like its safety. Maybe I could accept the G version.
I have this version of the P226:

I've settled on two revolvers as my favorite revolvers to shoot. It doesn't matter what they are, it's different for everyone and this isn't about revolvers. But those two are guns that just plain work and feel like an extension of my hand.

I have tried a lot of different semiauto pistols over the years and have never found one that I can say I just love to shoot. Sure, some are pretty good, but I haven't found "the one" yet. What I'm looking for is a 9x19 in a "full" or "duty" size.

I don't think "the one" will be a striker-fired gun, the action just doesn't feel "real" to me, but for serious self defense or going to war it's plenty good enough. I like hammer fired guns for fun range shooting, but I'm not a huge fan of single action (1911) triggers. About the only mainstream guns I haven't tried are the CZ series, Beretta 92 series, or Beretta Storm series.

Some I've tried:
Ruger P- series
M&P series
H&K
XDM
FNX45
BHP
1911 in all sizes
Glocks
Kahrs
Bersa Thunder 9, both compact and full size
3rd gen S&W

Are there any others out there that are just pure joy to shoot, no vices, reliable, and accurate?

Glock 26.

If I can give honorable mention to a pistol I don't own..

A friend's S&W 52-2 is a wonderful gun to shoot.
