Although I have carried everything from an RG25 through an M1911, I always seem to have the 25 ACP pistol with me when resorting to deadly force becomes a consideration.

Carried a .32S&W Topbreak for my first carry gun. Due to my situation it is what I had. This was maybe four years back. Carried a second one sometimes if I felt I needed. Even carried loose rounds sometimes in the tiny Jean pocket(one in the right pocket). It often matters that you have a tool with you, more than the size of it.

You ever had someone ask for a knife to cut some twine, nobody has one except a TINY folder that you can barely hold....but somehow it cuts the twine,

Got a 9MM Shield and carry it still daily when able. Retired my .32S&W's for now. Bought a Taurus PT25 in 25ACP shortly after. I realized I wanted a pocket gun again. The Shield is too hard for pocket carry in my expirience. Everyone is different, but the Taurus worked. 9+1 was comforting. I carried two 9 rounders as spares. Had one traffic incident where God was looking out for me. We all went home safe, but I was HAPPY to have my little 25 over NOTHING when the other driver started arguing with me. Once he blocked me in my hand slid right into my pocket slowly and held at ready. Point is, nothing happened but if it did...ten holes the diameter of a No.2 pencil inside your chest won't make life easier on you.

I voted 32ACP though, because I sold the Taurus and got a Keltec P32. Taurus and Keltec, are hard to come by where I live and I always wanted a P32. It goes EVERYWHERE I can take it. With or without the Shield as well. When I am at the beach in cargos, no shirt with my lady it dissapears. Plus I carry it now as 7+1 so I only lost two rounds and got twice as much ft-lbs.

If you want night sites for a gun that doesn't have adjustable sights/ you barely have a blade...I reccomend Europium. I used some on my Taurus & Keltec. Since they have fixed stock sights. Helped me feel MUCH safer with these mouse guns at night to see better. Shield has some as well as my Ithaca 37, it just works well for what it is. Not perfect, but excellent charge time.

Be safe. God Bless America.

Almost always have one of two guns on me- one in .38 S&W, loaded with 150gr. LSWCs, the other in .45ACP loaded with modern hollowpoints.

Very different guns, very different ammo; so what do they have in common? I can put rounds on target fast and accurately. That matters more than caliber!

At this stage in the poll, 69.1% of the choices are in the approximately 36 caliber range, .380 ACP through .357 Magnum, with more votes for the 9x19 than anything else. Medium bores apparently check the right boxes for a lot of people. I'm partial to .38 Special, myself.

I've been carrying a North American arms .22 short in my pocket for over 45 years. My EDC now is a S&W 386 night guard in 357 but loaded with .38 +P+ instead of the full power rounds. 10 oz. lighter to carry but same size as my S&W 686 plus.

My EDC is a Remington RM380 for the past year. Before that and often now it was/is a S&W 442 .38 Special.
I have other guns that I will carry in my vehicle but the 2 I mentioned are usually on me.

Glock 42 iwb holster, or have a Taurus view (with the non-view plate) that really disappears in a pants pocket. I have the only one that I have ever seen. I guess most folks didn't get it, but its got to be the smallest .38 five shot out there. Super light too. I load Hornady 110gr critical defense in it.

I cheated a little bit

My most likely primary carry:

50% Taurus PT111 G2 9mm
Federal Standard Pressure HST 124 Grain

30% S&W .45 Shield
Remington Standard Pressure Golden Sabre 230 Grain

20% Glock 22 with 9mm Conversion
Federal Tactical Bonded 135 Grain +P

... Where I cheated is armed or not I always have a Ruger LCP Gen 2 .380 with Hornady XTP in my back pocket.

So I guess I really should have put the .380 but it's usually just a backup.

Dan Wesson CCO 1911 .45ACP in either Milt Sparks Axiom or Nexus holster with Gold Dot 230gr JHP is my EDC. Bedside pistol is a Glock 19 with Gold Dot 124gr +P JHP in a Milt Sparks NLG holster with spare mag. When fast walking or running, NAA Mini Mag with .22 Magnum ammo in NAA IWB. Have had this setup for quite a few years, not looking to change.

I voted 380ACP because I carry a glock 42 around the house so it gets the most carry time. It gets switched out to a Glock 26 or 29 when I go out
Same here Glock 26(perfection) but
380 everyday,cuz it's so easy to conceal

I voted 9mm and technically that’s true, but I’m in a bit of a transitional phase. My most commonly carried guns are a Kahr P9 for IWB and a PM9 for pocket carry in dress clothes. However, I have discovered that I have a bit of a contrarian streak because as the world moves back to 9mm I find myself moving to 40 Smith & Wesson for the first time.

I recently purchased 40 Smith & Wesson versions of both of my 9 mm Kahr guns because they were so insanely cheap. Plus, good defensive ammo in 40 is in a weird place in the market right now where it’s actually cheaper than 9 mm. I bought a case of Federal 180 HST for $299 and a case of Federal Classic 180 JHP for the same cost. A case of 124 +P Gold Dots for the 9mm is over $500, and that’s if you can find someone who’s still willing to sell it to you in the 50 round boxes. So switching to 40 gives me cheaper guns and ammo with exactly the same ergonomics. All I give up is one round of magazine capacity, and I think I can live with that. Plus, if the pendulum swings back I still have the 9mm guns.

I have been toying with carrying a larger gun in winter when I can hide it under a sweatshirt or jacket. I decided on the CZ P-07...so I bought one in 9mm and one in 40. Someone might conclude I was just looking for a reason to buy another gun...and they might not be wrong :D

The thought of carrying a pistol, different ones, on different days, pocket, belt Etc-Etc makes me cringe.

Case in point, early 60s part of my job, erecting, repairing, TV Aerials in the UK. Installing rental TVs.
In the cold/wet weather, I wore a US green nylon jacket. It had stitched in slots on the left upper arm.
I was told it was for morphine injectors? No matter, I put a small screwdriver in one, a pen in another.
The number of times I reached for a pen, to my arm, when I no longer wore that jacket (it fell apart!) was amazing. Move that too many and varied guns, places to carry? Frightening, a life and death situation, you reach for your EDC weapon, and it is not there!

Not for me, Glock 19 4th Gen, right hip, 3-30PM, TruGlo night sights, extended slide release. Same gun, same place, always. Spare G17 magazine. Surefire light. Been wearing 511 pants forever! My Wife stitches in a seam it looks as they have just been pressed. Stealing a wallet from a mile deep pocket that is velcro
fastened, is not happening. Belt loops, perfect for wide belts. Ranger T 147g Winchester 9mm, not plus P.
G17 spare mag. NATO hardball. In case a car gets involved. A 3.5" Benchmade folder. Compleats the kit.

An 83-year-old, with a white beard? Nice old Grandad to 8.

I carry a G26 in the city and sometimes a SP101 at the farm with .357 158gr. JSP.
