Ww1 and ww1 style weapons match?

Check out the CMP GSM (Garand, Springfield, and vintage military matches). Rifles include M1 Garands, any variant of the 1903 Springfield rifle, and other foriegn bolt action rifles.

Around here, several clubs conduct a monthly match, the CMP conducts several yearly traveling games matches, and the national matchs at Camp Perry Ohio in early August.

2-gun matches often have a theme and you can certainly run WWI weapons but I'm not aware of any clubs or orgs that EXCLUSIVELY shoot WWI weapons for matches.

I've run enfields and 1903s in 3 gun matches, with 1911 sidearm and a pump 12 gauge. Just need an 1897 or model 12 and I'd be golden.

Sometimes, mostly at local matches, a theme for the match might get picked, e.g. in theory a match director could offer to run a WWII themed match where the stages might be designed with the intention of being able to run them with a WWII-era rifle. They would also likely create additional competition divisions for the folks running those rifles, for instance, for the bolt action guns vs. semi-autos.

As an example, the match I assist with, we do an annual AK vs. AR match where competitors are encouraged to run both an AK (or other combloc style) and AR rifles.

In most cases, participation in the themed divisions is likely voluntary, and something done to kind of spice up a match.

That said, if you ask a match director ahead of time if you can run WWI or WWII guns at a match, they most likely will allow you to do so, just don't expect to set the world on fire.

Justin did a good job but search YouTube for recent InRange videos about red October match for one example. Everyone has to use Combloc rifles, and stages are designed around combloc nation themes etc.

For a while there was “Zoot Shooters” which was a sidestep for CAS. Rather than cowboy, it was roaring twenties gangster era games. Looked like fun. Too bad I never saw anything actually happen. Thompson, 1911, Hand Ejectors, BAR, rem11 shotguns... who wants to start this back up???

First an example, and probably a good one since it seems to hit pretty much what you're looking for. Piedmont Handgunners Association in Linwood NC holds an annual "Vintage 2-gun" match. https://www.vintage2gun.com/
as the Site will tell you, rifles are limited to designs from 1945 or prior, divided up into Service rifle (military bolt guns, cartridge length of 50mm or greater), Self Loading Service Rifle (Garand, G41, G43, SVT, etc. a 1941 Johnson showed up in '17. again cartridge length of 50mm or greater ), and Carbine (manual or self loading cartridge length of less than 50mm). also starting this year there was a "D-day" award for best finish using Garand and .45 1911

This year's event has already passed. But since attendance grew in comparison to the inaugural in 2017, I'm pretty sure these will continue. BTW in the 2017 event photos, I'm the fat guy in the dark blue shirt and tan suspenders.

More generally, as others have said, if there is enough interest (more than one or two guys) many if not most match directors for 2- and 3- gun matches will have separate divisions available for owners of "non-HSLD" guns to compete in, if not periodic themed matches where such guns are the preferred if not exclusive gear. so find you're local multi-gun matches and ask around, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Here's a current video series with a WWI theme for example. Subscribe and they'll release more stages over the next few days.

In addition to the sanctioned CMP games matches (Springfield, vintage bolt, John C Garand), many clubs hold vintage shoots following the same basic rules or a modified course, often scaled to 100 yard targets. They are a fun course to shoot, and even with a basic Mosin Nagant with a decent zero, decent surplus ammo or "wolf", a couple of stripper clips and an M1 Web sling you can do fairly well. If you happen to have a good shooting M1917, M1903, K-31, Swedish M96 or M1 Garand with quality ammo and know how to use it, you can be competitive at Perry and you can start collecting expensive pins for your hat.

Another really fun CMP event that is not widely held, is the Vintage sniper match. Fired at 300 and 600 yards with a WWII or repro sniper rifle. The top shooters invariably fire an M1903 or Swedish M41 variant $$$, but you can do well enough to have fun and scare them a bit on a good day with a Mosin Nagant PU resto/repro and quality ammo. It is shot in 2 man teams on targets that are shown only for a short time. In that time, your previous shot is spotted, correction if any is made, you aim and fire. Very fast paced, and especially interesting on a windy day. I was killing it with my mosin one day, and the guy who ended up winning was spotting on a neighboring firing point. He was visibly perturbed every time my target came up 10 or 10x, and very happy 6 shots into the 600 yard stage when something came loose and my zero crossed the singularity.

Don’t forget the CMP .30Carbine matches!

I've thought something like this would be a lot of fun for a while now. Too many AR-15s and Glocks.
