I recently acquired this Star BM from AIM Surplus. Finish is about 98%. There were a couple small dings in the checkered black plastic grips, but I replaced those with a nice set of Cocobolos from J&G Sales. There were barely any scratches on the barrel hood, nor wear on the slide rails. I don't believe it was shot much. Trigger pull is short, crisp, and fairly light - better than my Colt Govt Model Series 70.

I've only put 150 rounds (Geco 124 gr. FMJ) through it, but it performed flawlessly. Printed a nice small group at 7 yards, but a couple inches high. I need to see what different bullet weights will do. Most of my shooting is done with Glocks using a very high, straight thumbs grip. Using the same grip on the Star gave me a bit of hammer bite. Tucking my strong hand thumb down mostly eliminated this. I may end up bobbing a bit off the hammer.

At $230, this little gem was a bargain.

I have the same gun in basically the same condition, also from AIM. They're a substantial piece of metal, and a joy to shoot! I bought several spare mags. at the time and also have a spare recoil spring assembly I found on eBay.

They're good little guns. I regret trading mine to my best friend, but I still get to shoot it occasionally. It's a tad heavy for carry for as small as it is, but not unbearably so.

I had one several years ago and stupidly traded it for a Taurus 22 mag 8 shot revolver. But it shot well and worked every time. This thread made me go to Aim Surplus and see if they still have them. They do. Thanks a lot. Now I have another gun purchase to roll around in my head and think about.:cuss:

You're welcome. That's funny because someone else had a recent post about the Star BM that motivated me to go to AIM. Just passing it on. :)

I absolutely do not need one and have plenty of nice handguns to shoot.
Seeing how good yours looks I'm going to order one anyway.

I ordered one from J&G and got the wood grips too. I love it. It shoots better than any other 9mm I have. I love an all-steel gun anyway but this one almost "cured" me of wanting another plastic gun in the future.

NOTE: Do not dry fire these guns. They have a propensity for breaking firing pins which are hard to get.

I like mine a lot... and coincidentally also got it from AIM. It's a great shooter. Now that I've seen those nice wooden grips, I will probably have to order myself a pair. I really like the way they look! :)

Man, why did I have to open this thread.

For the past few weeks, I've been tossing around which 9mm to buy next and had it narrowed down to a Star BM and a SAR9BL (sans manual safety). I was pretty much set on the SAR but that's a good looking Star BM.

Maybe they'll still be around in a couple months when it's time to buy another toy.

I have a Star BS, great shooter.
I bobbed the hammer just a tad, I was getting hammer-bite.
I never carry it, just take it out of the safe now and then, blow the dust off of it, shoot it, clean it then put it back.

I also bought a BM a few months ago..What a wonderful single stack all steel 9mm! The trigger pull is excellent as is and for the money it is the best handgun I have ever bought!

I have a Super B, made in 1978, I think. It appears unissued. It's a very impressive piece in fit, finish, and manipulation. Admittedly, I've yet to shoot it (I acquire guns faster than I get to shoot them!)
