A few months ago I picked up a few more pistols that I thought would look great in my shop. I’ve had this display case sitting around for about 20 or so years and never used it for anything and thought it would work.

I decided to go with a Civil War theme. It took a few days to find some good pics for the background.

After test fitting everything with screws, I used cut nails as pegs to hold the guns.

I think it turned out pretty good. I may add a few more items.

That is gorgeous!
I need to go out to the barn and see what I can come up with.
There is 150 yr old wood out there, and someone left a horse drawn cart and backboard out there . Seat and metal still good and so are wheels. Never seen em in person...wood wheels covered in iron bands and wood spokes.
Maybe salvage some old stuff and make a display myself.
Again...that's just beautiful.

Thanks for the comps. My father in law built the case years ago and I got it after he passed. I’m just glad that I finely put it to good use.

Wow, that is awesome. I see the pick of my man Jeb Stuart. . Seems like you have your own Mini Museum. Very interesting to just take a few minutes to look at and enjoy. .

FYI if you like civil war history, You might enjoy this

I wouldn't spend the ducats, but a LeMat would fit right now.

I have a Walker also, LeMat would be nice and a Uberti revolving 44 caliber carbine has been on my wish list for a time now. LOL, gonna need a bigger box. On a more serious side. Regarding the cut nails, how are they fastened in. The back of the cabinet have a one inch thick back or ???

I lined the back of the display with one inch thick boards. I I then drilled pilot holes and hammered the nails in place.

Can I order one of those and get it before Christmas?:D

Seriously a work of art. Don't see much of that type of display anymore but it was popular in the 60's.

You gave me an idea for a cabinet. My wife gave me an old recoilless rifle ammo crate from Korea. Looks a lot like yours. I had no idea what to use it for but it's going up on a wall as a cabinet in my new reloading room.

Thanks.

Pretty cool and Semper Fi....,....out my way the yahoos are such that if they break-in they would snatch mine right out of the display case, not knowing they were cap-n-ball. So I keep all my stuff in a safe when it's modern and in concealed spots when it's BP. :(

That's why my place has a SimpliSafe alarm system. The higher dollar metallic ammo stuff are all in the Browning pro steel safe, no guarantees with alarm or safe but it saves a few dollars on insurance premiums. I stopped using old fashion furniture designed glass front gun cases decades ago for that reason.
