Not all gun shops know all guns, particularly when it comes to older calibers or foreign markings. I was once told I should not shoot 380 ammo in my Sig P230 since it is chambered for 9mm Kurz.

That barrel has definitely been cut down and has been cut off so short that the front locking lug for the ejection rod has been removed. It has been refinished and the grips are from a much newer gun. Since its not a 38 special as advertised, I would return it
