I know most of the Beretta 92 series slides and frames are standard and will fit with each other. I remember something about the 92A1 being the oddball of the family, but can't remember what won't work. Is it that other slides won't fit on the A1 frame, or the A1 slide won't fit other frames or both?

All I can offer is that if you replace a standard M9/92F slide with a brigadier slide, you must also get a brigadier slide stop.

The other physical difference is the take down button is round on the 92A1 (I assume on the 90-Two though I can't remember), but oval on all other M9/92 Series guns.

My personal experience is limited to placing Centurion/Compact slide assemblies on full-size frames and vice-versa. I would not advise trying to put a full-size slide assembly on a compact frame; not only is there a small gap between the dust cover and recoil spring, but it also takes a fully raging Lou Ferrigno to rotate the disassembly lever if you want to disassemble it.

FWIW, one of my favorite pistols is a Beretta 96 "Frankenstein gun". It has an American DAO slide on top of a standard Italian frame. It functions perfectly, and I like the lack of safeties or decockers.

I'm doing nothing too wild or crazy really. Really just something to put this Langdon trigger job kit in as well as a few other goodies.

I am thinking a regular 92FS. No rail, just the classic Beretta look. I don't have one of those at the moment. It will be an Italian made one. I've mentioned in other posts that US made guns are just fine but Beretta's an Italian company and it just drives me bonkers to have one not made there. I'm the same way with Glocks that are made over here instead of Austria.

I haven't decided yet on Bruniton or Inox. At the moment I'm kind of liking the Inox, but that changes hourly.

I tend to worry about small things like that and make a big deal out of it and drive myself nuts. Like this...

There is a 99.99% chance the 92fs would be just fine. But I worry about the sights on the standard one. I can't change them out. What if I need night sights? What if I get the Inox model and don't like the red/orange front sight? I blow little **** like that out of proportion and over think it.

I got myself thinking well if I decide I don't like those sights I could stick a Vertec slide on there and I'd be able to replace them. Except that all the Vertec slides I've seen are stamped made in USA, so that would solve one problem but it would then drive me crazy for not being Italian.

That whole line of thinking got me completely turned around to wondering if I should just hold off until I get notification from Bud's (or somewhere) that an Italian made Inox Brigadier is in stock.

I like that!

Thanks. I really should have taken a picture of the other side. It has no decocker or safety or anything. The description on GunBroker was quite matter-of-fact, and apparently scared off the other bidders. I don't remember the exact number, but I think my winning bid was closer to $150 than $200. For a HD gun or carry gun or something, I might prefer to have a safety or decocker. For a range toy, it's simpler not to have either. (It functions as DA/SA.)

The place I got it from was selling a bunch of surplus or turn-in Model 96's and was apparently reaching the bottom of the barrel. IIRC, the slide has some obvious holster wear, but the frame is in very good condition.
