Is anyone familiar with these pistols?

For an MSRP of $500 I feel like you can get a better deal from a more well established company with better warranty and aftermarket support.
MSRP of $500 may not be retail price, you know how that works.

There was a recall last Summer of them due to drop test issues. That's the last I heard of them. Was hoping they'd catch on and be successful but S&W was dropping prices on the Shield when they came out and I don't think they ever caught on.

You may want to try actually shooting one. The Honor Guard is a Shild copy anyway.

Honor Guard allegedly got a contributor at The Firearm Blog fired because he raised questions about the gun's drop safety.

I found this link about the cover-up and firing.

The story and comments are insightful thanks for the pointer. I've bookmarked TFB and HG with a warning to myself. I had not heard of HG and don't read TFB so it's no loss.

I checked out a shield at the LGS , the trigger jumped the sights when I dry fired it. That told me the accuracy of that gun is questionable.

Sir, no offense, but that's not the gun's fault. That's on you for not being experienced with the gun. The only way you're going to pick up a gun that doesnt jump when you first try it is if it has a 1/2 pound trigger.

Did not even realize they were still in business. Personally I do not even understand how they can compete. The pistol itself always seemed way too expensive to the comparable Shield. And I would guess a small company would mean higher cost for them. I would imagine it is tough for them to stay afloat. I would prefer to stick with a Manufacturer that has a strong history of survival, especially in this current age we live in.

That is possible.
When I was shopping for a single stack compact 9x19 I compared the Ruger LC9s, Glock 43, Spingfield XDS, Kahr PM9 and the S&W Shield. The Shield was the only one that would jump the sights when I pulled the trigger.
