Remove logo?

I picked up an Anderson lower on the used market a while back. It was an excellent value as it had a Timney trigger installed as well as some other goodies and I got the whole thing for less than the price of the trigger alone. I've had a couple different uppers on it as I've refined my thinking and figured out my needs/wants.

I'm now running it with a complete BCM upper and it's looking like I'm approaching a "final" setup on it. The lower was nicely set up and I haven't really changed any of it, but it's got a Punisher logo etched/painted/I'm not really sure on the magwell and two little ones on the takedown pins. I've decided these are a bit childish and I'd like to remove them. The pins I can probably do even if it means sanding and painting, but is there a way to remove the big one on the magwell short of having the whole lower refinished?

Get new pins. That'll look better.

As for the big logo, if its etched, only sanding or filling with an epoxy will work, then refinish

Anderson sells a lot of laser etched ones so that is probably what it is. You won't be able to get it off. A new stripped lower is like $40 so the best thing to do would be to get another stripped lower and swap the parts over.

If its this one, only real option is covering it with something else. If painted over, since it's engraved will still be visible.

Poverty Ponies are $40. Buy a new lower and sell that one, instead of wasting nearly the same cost in a bandaid fix.

If I didn't want to go through the trouble of selling and buying another lower, I might just put a highly resilient sticker of some kind over the skull.

Something like this would work in my case.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think that Anderson made a punisher lower. Iirc spikes tactical or psa. Whichever they had three options engraved, or engraved painted red or white.

Trading or going to another lower involves paperwork for the transfer and possible transfer fees. If the design is etched, simply sand or bead blast the logo off, then Duracoat the part. If it's laser engraved or CNC milled into the receiver, simply fill in the area with an automotive spot putty, sand and repaint. Pretty easy fix.

I'd certainly sell it to someone. It will fetch a few more bucks than a plain boring lower of the same quality as there are people who want Punisher logo lowers.

The buyer pays transfer fees. You go to some respectable store and buy a lower (or complete one) off the shelf. Simple.

Otherwise: I would never try to grind off something this large. Either ignore it, or maybe fill it lightly (on the order of spackle, so you can remove it later) and cover with a sticker, even if a plain circle of black vinyl.

He’s in Ohio. Not a thing. No background check required between private parties, no requirement to transfer through an FFL. Find an interested party over 18yrs of age with sufficient money, take said money, hand them the lower. That simple when you don’t live in an Anti-Constitution state.

I'm a fan of just covering it up, if the rig is the way you want it as far as operation, then a little black duct tape or a merica sticker and you're good to go. If aesthetics are important, then swapping lowers is pretty much the only option to make it look right

I might try sanding/painting. I've had good luck with hi-temp automotive spraypaint though I'm pretty reluctant to try that. The logo is advertised as "laser-engraved" whatever that means; I can just barely feel a ridge between the edge of the logo and the black finish around it.

Based on replies above though, maybe another lower is the answer. I'll have to find a used or hoarded one - part of the appeal on the current one is that I didn't have to deal with transfers in the FTF transaction... it's probably less trouble to swap the innards into another lower than to go to all the trouble of refinishing, by myself or farmed out.

Way easier, and won’t hurt any future value.

Anderson lowers are cheap.

Nothing wrong with changing things ya don't like. Something as simple as a coat of matte back or dark gray paint will pretty well mask it from a distance, just the image will still be visible up close. $3 "mostly" fixed, but yeah if you want it completely gone probably more trouble than just swapping. For what it's worth, there is a market for the punisher stuff. Our local academy store just got in a bunch of logo mags, furniture and slings so somebody wants it.

Several companies sell covers from $20-$50 or you might consider something like tread tape. That’s the stuff people lay down on floors where they don’t want to slip. Usually black in color, non-slip (of course), and wide enough/thick enough to obscure the logo. You could wrap it around the entire housing (3 sides) if preferred. Otherwise a small sheet of cardstock with scope dope laminated and double-sided tape might be tactical er...practical?

Actually, that's brilliant. I've got tread tape/skateboard tape here, 'cause I regularly put it on the front straps of my pistols (if they're not checkered). I could stick a square of that tape over the logo, at least to try in the short term. This is the kind of KISS solution that usually escapes me. Thanks!

If there’s one thing I’ve taught and adhered to over the years it’s the art of subtlety. Or was it how to make sun tea...

Back to the present, I did have some reasonable success in tamping down the laser yammering all over a stainless slide by means of fine automotive sandpaper. Still visible but only to identify it as an S&W and I don’t think I would venture there with aluminum.
