Has anyone seen this new gun from Walther??? Similar to the polymer-framed version but with a steel frame.

https://www.waltherarms.com/handguns/q5-match-steel-frame/#

Jake Martens just reviewed this for the USPSA Front Sight Magazine, and she looks like a beauty.

I just bought a SIG P320 X-Five for use in the Carry Optics division of USPSA, but if I had seen this one first, I would have considered it over the SIG.

She really looks like a beauty, and I am used to the heavier Limited division guns, so this would have been right up my alley.

So wants one (besides me!)????

Should be popular with the competition shooting crowd. But for folks who just focus on defensive shooting skills, eh probably not as much.

That looks pretty nice. Is there a purpose to the brightly colored trigger? I notice a lot of competition guns have that. Is it so range officers running the competition have an easier time seeing if participants are exercising proper trigger discipline and safety?

The regular framed Q5 has the same colored trigger. The Q5 pistols are marketed toward competition shooters. I did find Apex makes a black trigger kit for the Q5 though.

Wow that looks really sweet. It has been many years since Walther has made a steel frame full size pistol. I am very interested in these. Word is Watther is going to come out with more models including 4 inch for competition and combat style. Also a spring pack is supposed become available to that trigger pull can easily be modified - light, medium, heavy. Test targets of reviews I have seen look extremely impressive too. This Q5 Match steel would make a really sweet range gun too.

IMO pricing indicates a high quality product modern mass pistol rather than trying to blowest price in category which makes me happy.

Makes sense.. There is a reason the best shooters add weight to their limited poly guns. You just cannot overcome that advantage.

There are so few steel-framed striker-fired pistols on the market. I am not sure why this equation seems to hold true:

striker-fired = polymer frame

There is no reason why we don't have a decent selection of steel-framed striker-fired pistols. I for one, am very excited to see this release.

I also just got a 320X5 early last year and I can see where the new SF Walther could be a good choice. But MSRP at $1500, couldn't take a chance on one without shooting it first. Cant imagine they will be easy to find as range rentals. Would have liked to see them come from the factory with more than 17rd capacity also. Looking forward to some reviews.

Its a purpose built competition pistol...
So it needs 10rds for USPSA Production/IDPA.
15 for IPSC, and 4-5rds short for USPSA Limited.

Its target is likely production with the loosening of the weight rules.

Possibly, but I also think with the mag well, it is targeted at other divisions as well. The fact that it is "red dot ready" also makes it a good candidate for Carry Optics (but the mag well will have to go as well).

In my mind, it seems to be competing against guns like the SIG P320 X-Five, and they come with 21-round mags.

Only saw one pic of a magwell on your link.
The other link provided in this thread mentions two separate models with the Pro having the magwell and the other without. Course both use the standard 15rd mag with extensions. There are aftermarket mag extensions for the PPQ out there already.
