Hi OP, and thanks for the positive review!

Our targets will easily last hundreds of rounds with round-nose and spire point ammo. Hollow points, wadcutters, and flat-nose projectiles will take a small chunk, so avoid those. If you take a look at the pics and videos on our Facebook page and website, the majority of shots are .45 ACP or 9mm. Rifle rounds (mostly .223 and .308 in the images) barely leave a mark.

Without naming names, I think you'll find the durability to be on par with or better to anything else on the market.

If there's interest and if it's allowed in the forum (couldn't find any rules either way), I'd be happy to set up a group buy discount for those that want to give us a try.

I'm assuming you can't print them permanently with rings and bulls eye. I know that steel plate shooters don't care about that sort of thing, but it would be a good incentive for paper target shooters to switch. I imagine the ink or paint would get destroyed pretty quickly. Would it be possible to construct a target with different colored ring lines like the green target with black ring lines? Or alternating rings of the two colors? Now that would be sweet.

While I am here, what doe they weigh? Can you hang them in front of a paper target with just a clothespin or clip?

We haven't experimented with printing, but I would be concerned about durability there. There are a few ways to do dual color and you may see something from us later this year on that front.

As for the weight, the 6" targets weight about 1/2 lbs and the 4" targets are about 1/4 lbs. Depending on what you're shooting them with, a clip would hold, but I prefer to staple them right to a 2x4, target support, or backstop with the longer staples. I would not recommend relying on just the clips at an indoor range, since having the target fall out of the clip makes you rather unpopular with the RO and fellow shooters. For the indoor range clips, you can add a simple string or zip tie for security looped around the top of the clip, although we're working on something more elegant.

I received my 4" yesterday, Was hoping to try it out, but we are in the middle of a storm. Appears to be very nice quality. So if I just tie a zip tie, or long string over the 2x2 at my outdoor range, will the target twirl or just move back when hit, similar to a steel target?. Normally you have to use a steel target and hang with chains. The 2x2 is too high to reach with without a ladder or taking them down. I am hoping this makes a quick hanging target. Thinking about getting a long para cord and just throwing over the wood and when finished just cutting the cord.

I’ve hung them using 2 zip ties in a V to keep them from turning sideways (see the photo) and get the best movement with a rifle. You may be able to do something like this with string and/or zip ties at your range.

@Double Action Targets

1) I'm probably going to buy a couple of your targets, because they're a great idea indoors, especially when I take new shooters and kids (easy visual confirmation of a hit is always a confidence booster.)
2) I hope they're stronger than ones made by Newbold. Their come apart rather quickly if you miss and hit the long hanging segment. (I have an aftermath picture from maybe a half dozen .22LR's having "missed" and hit the "stick")
3) I hope yours don't suffer from the same infirmity.

edit: for those asking about hanging, I hung my others with a small squeeze clamp, or a large paper clamp.

The material is similar to Newbold, so you may experience the same issue, unfortunately. I will say that ours tend to “chunk” less than theirs with ball ammo on the exit side, but I’m not sure that would make a difference on the strap portion.

That being said, the only time I’ve seen the strap take any damage was when I had one stapled on the back side of a 2x4 and put a .45 right through the wood, which pushed a big splinter right above the staple and cut across about 1/3 of the stem. My video guy has that on film, so I’ll post that as “what not to do” when he makes that cut!

This isn’t the video where we damaged the strap, but illustrates how it was mounted when we did. In this one, the force of the last shot actually pulled the staple from the wood without damaging the strap.

I got mine in. they're very stout feeling. want to take them out soon.

*FINALLY* got around to shooting one of mine more than twice.

Left one is a competitor's target, after about 300 rounds.
Right one is a DA after 175 rounds (I ran out of bullets. I'll shoot it more, don't worry.)

Ammo was Federal Champion 36gr CPHP FED745 out of a Beretta M9-22 at a distance of 10 meters.

With hollow points, you'll typically end up with a hole exactly the size of the hole in the projectile, where a round nose will close up completely.

Looks like a good idea for ranges that don’t allow steel. Being more expensive than the same size AR 500 steel plate might be an issue for broader markets though.

Understood on the hollow points not being recommended. I can note that on the back side there were many holes with little "fingers" of target material sticking out of them; I'm attributing that to material carved off the front by the opening in the round. I'll be breaking into my (more expensive) stash of round nose ammo the next time I take the target out with me. Otherwise, it seemed to hold up very well.
