Aero Precision vs PSA premium?

I have owned both in the past and dont remember much of a difference but I have heard rumors that PSA has been having some QC issues lately. Has anyone here bought any rifles from these two companies lately?

I am looking for a beater rifle for carbine courses, plinking ,etc. This rifle will not be for defensive use or anything like that.

The ones I am looking at is either the Aero Precision OEM (no furniture model) for $500 and A PSA premium (with furniture ,ready to go) for about the same price.
 
I have had better luck with Psa. It seems Aero has a better Internet reputation but that has not been my experience.
 
Functionally equivalent. Buy whichever rollmak you like or which customer service you'd rather deal with.

Personally I'd buy aero because they've been pushing into retail lately and have better brand recognition for resale.
 
I don't have any PSA complete rifles but I have bought a few upper kits that came with everything to complete a stripped lower. My favorite is a 16" with midlength gas system, lightweight MLOK rail (which I believe is made by Midwest Industries), and PSA's enhanced polished trigger (EPT). 5.56 already has light recoil but the midlength system seems to tame it even more compared to all the carbines I've fired. And the EPT is worth every penny of the $30 or so that PSA charges for it. I wouldn't call it a match trigger but its much nicer than any "mil-spec" trigger. I can't say anything bad about Aero. I've fired a couple but never owned one. I just wouldn't pay more for an Aero if it has the same features as a PSA.
 
I remember Aero having a much better finish but I am going to rattle can my rifles soon so that is irrelevant, for me. I like PSAs BCG better too , considering I use Toolcraft whenever I buy BCGs by themselves.

I dont remember accuracy being bad with either one , Aero uses Ballistic Advantage barrels and PSAs premium line still uses FN barrels, right?
 
I have 2 PSA rifles, one stnls mid-length 18" bbl w/scope, one pretty much routine 16 flat top with a SIG optic, a Colt HBAR, and odd and sundry frankenrifles, and the PSA is as good a quality as the Colt in my estimation. They all work, they're all accurate, and they all look great. Beyond all that, it's personal choice; in the absence of objective data, I'd opine that quality is in the eye of the beholder.

You need to check barrel specs to know for sure. The FN barrels use a different steel and are CHF.

On which to buy; I purchased a complete upper and lower from PSA last July, 18” SS rifle gas, NiB BCG, lower with EPT and Magpul furniture.

This fall I purchased a complete Aero pistol upper, added NiB BCG and built the lower from a stripped Aero.

While the two have a very different feel for obvious reasons they are both good quality builds and continued shooting will hopefully wring out any potential problems, though none have been encountered to date. I’d say choose what you prefer, be it rollmark or handguard.

I can say the Aero was part-for-part more expensive and on close inspection the finish is very good. I can also say the PSA looks good as well, perhaps just a tad less refined.
 
For the price you would be hard pressed to beat the PSA. I have never used CS for either so I can't speak to that specifically other than what I have read.

I have an Aero and a PSA sitting next to each other and do give a slight nod to the Aero. But both are good and factoring in the price difference:

Forged are forged... the finish work thereafter varies, mostly by the stamp content on the side more than the anodizing difference... machining work varies slightly, but rarely ever significantly between major reputable, high volume manufacturers. More often, the dimensional tolerance variability guys see are in low budget brands which contract low cost spec products from other producers... PSA and Aero both make top quality lowers, with tolerances as good as anyone, and finish work as good as anyone. So take your pick, do you want a big A or crossed canons. Flip a coin, you’re just as likely to get a lemon from either, which is very low likelihood...
 
Like mshootnit I like Del Ton much better than PSA. Everything fit right and looked better than the PSA. I don't know about Aero.
 
I am currently sending back another barrel to aero. I guess it's the luck of the draw. A couple of years ago it was a 308 barrel with headspace problems. This time it is a 6.5 Creedmore with too tight of a chamber.
 
PSA Premium. BTW, they don't manufacture anything as far as I know.

The last Aero built on a gen2 lower had a bit of excessive play (fixable) and a gap between the halves you could push a deck o' cards through.
