hey guys, I thought I'd share some info with everyone. I'm not sure if it's been brought up before or not so here goes. I shoot prs matches and people always leave behind brass at the end after cleanup. for some reason they just dont worry with it. so I have acquired a bunch of hornady 6.5 creed and 6mm creed brass over the last year. fast forward to now, I acquired a switch barrel repeater setup over on the hide that has a 6xc barrel. after I received the dies I ordered, I got to thinking and comparing 6 creed to 6xc. there's not alot of difference between the two, so I ran a few creed through my FL 6xc sizer die to see how well the conversion will work. it works outstanding and I now have 201 hornady 6xc cases that chamber perfectly fine without any trimming. anyone do this from one case or another to 6xc?

I always wanted to try making XC brass from Lapua Palma brass, but I gave up on the XC and went Dasher for my 6mm fun. I suppose now Lapua Creed brass would be an option.

the necks are great, no donut when using hornady 6mm creedmoor brass. I'm using Forster dies for the reform, had to make the press cam-over a little to get the right shoulder spec. I loaded up 5 so far with no issues while firing and again, no donut or excessive neck tension when using 6mm creedmoor brass. I have also reformed some copper creek and alpha lrp 6mm creedmoor brass to try along side the hornady. although the last two kinds have slight bends in the case rim from extraction when the cases were left for dead. heres a picture of reformed 6mm creedmoor brass on the left and Peterson 6.5 creedmoor on the right for comparison. if you look closely, you can see where the body and shoulder junction used to be on the reformed brass.

thanks, its definitely a more economical way to get 6xc brass. I'm constantly finding hornady brass at the prs events. alot of people run the factory match ammo and dont reload the brass, so they throw it in the buckets. free brass and a small amount of my time saved alot of money!

update:

I did some load work today using both the 115gr dtac and 105 cc using h1000. i learned 2 things, the converted brass works amazingly well and, my Winchester lrp's suck and show pressure early. switched over to some Remington 9 1/2 lrp's and was able to get things going. I'm getting 2859fps with the dtac and 2951fps with the 105gr.
