Got the magnum pistol primers. loaded up 15 rounds with 15.7 grns of H110, lyman 358156gt w/ hornady gascheck, winchester small pistol magnum primer, mixed headstamp cases.

1275 was my max velocity out of the m27 6 inch
1760 was the max from my winchester m94 in .357

bullet weight is 162 grns checked and lubed
oal is 1.56 inch
very heavy crimp.

it should be noted from the rifle velocity was pretty consistant.

it seems like i am not getting the velocity i should be. i get these velocities with AA#9 and 2400. and without going crazy on the crimp and without magnum primers.

guys give me your recipies and bullet recomendations you use to get pas this. i'd like to get at least 1850 fps from my rifle.

I've used the load you list in my 357 Blackhawk. Except with 158 Gr. Hornady HP/XTPs. It's a handfull. Should do what kernal_panic wants.

I have a similiar load with 158 grain JHPs and 15.5 gr of H110 that yields right around 1260 or so out of my Desert Eagle.
Looks like your velocities are right on the published data...

1) My saga is that the 44 mag factory ammo was so wimpy I was disapointed.

So I started handloading, read the load books, and the H110 looked the best.

24 gr H110, 240 gr JHP, 44 mag in my S&W 29-4, is not wimpy, it kicks.

2) My saga is the 357 mag with 22 gr H110, 125 gr JHP kicks.

Your velocities pretty much match what I've seen too, maybe a little lower but every gun is different. 15.0gr of H110 in my 8 3/8" M27 only did 1,300 fps with a 158gr cast bullet. 16.5gr with just over 1,400 fps.

I found that Lil'Gun generated much higher velocities than H110 in my guns. Hodgdon lists up to 19.0gr in their Annual manual, that load under a typical 158gr LSWC did over 1,550 fps from my 5.5" Redhawk. I'd bet that would get you over your 1,850 fps goal in the rifle.

thanks my preliminary tests with lil gun show higher velocity that h110. with a lee 163 grn rnfp i hit 1313 with a standerd primer with lilgun. i really am disappointed in h110. aa#9 and 2400 both have provided velocities that match or exeed h110 in both revolver and rifle. i loaded some up at 18 grns of lilgun i'll try some 19 grn loads too.

H110 is the best! I shot some loads today with 240 JHP Remington bulk bullets out of my 4" 629 and got right at 1500fps!!! That is zooming for a 4" barrel.
