Some of the folks at the range I belong to, and a few that come into my shop, like to tell about the .22 rimfire rifle they have, and claim to be a real "tack-driver". Sorta got me to thinkin'. How about we have a shoot whereby you bring your tack-driver .22 rimfire rifle and we all have some fun?
Here's a target I sorta modified so that the orange dots are the same size as a thumb tack in diameter:

Trying to keep things equal, any sporter type .22 rimfire rifle, with the scope set at no more than 7-power, ammunition, the shooters choice, and let's see how that "tack-driver" does.
This was intended to be a fun event and it certainly did turn out that way. Good fun chiding was involved, but never any mean comments added, just good fun for a day shooting .22 rimfire.

Feel free to print the above target out and post it after your "tack-driver" smokes all the holes. I printed the targets we used on tag paper, the same stuff NRA targets are printed on.

Cool. We did a similar challenge on another post. I like this but weather prevents me from participating now but I would like to.

They printed about the size of a metal thumbtack for me....They looked larger, but I found a tack and found then to be about right.

^^^^Yah, that's what they should print. As long as you just copy the target, the dots should be as was posted above. BTW, pretty dang good shootin'. There is a guy at our gun club who owns a Remington 541-S and he was tearin' up those dots with Wolf Match Target.

I bought a 541-s many years ago, and I know it wouldn't be any problem shooting that target with several different kinds of ammo, but, as I'm getting older, I've turned into a fair weather shooter, and with the meds I'm on, can't take the cold of Wisconsin winters for very long anymore

Heck, I can't either. I used to get out back of my empire this time of year, no matter what the thermometer read, and "call" 'yotes while sitting in snow bunghole deep. I really loved doing that, but these days old bones can't take the cold although the mind would still like to do that type of hunting.
I guess that's why I sorta welcome the "global warming" idea. When a day comes along up here in Northwestern Wisconsin with temps in the mid 30's to low 40's, during January and February, I still get out and try calling.

Something else that is a lot of fun... During warmer weather when the flies are out:

Get a group of shooters and each shooter gets a "target". You can use printed targets are blank 8.5x11 sheets. Doesn't matter. Paste of your targets at whatever distance everyone agrees to. "Paint" the entire target with jelly, lard, etc. Anything that will attract flies. Set the timer for 15, 30, 60 mins... Again whatever everyone agrees to. Have fun!

He with the most splats wins. You can rotate through each shooter, stay on your own target, or shoot whatever target has the next available fly on it. Make your own rules and have fun!!!

Decades ago, started shooting steel in SB Rifle matches. Had a good friend, in a wheelchair, show up with 541-S one day, he was a a very good standing shooter with his upper body strength. That 541-S lead to many a shoot off between two Remington rifles, sending the $1,000 fancy guns to the house in the process. That is a nice looking 541 by the way and it will shoot.
