I carry a revolver with wood stocks. I have two rifles and they're both bolt-action, blued, and have walnut stocks. The last semi-automatic anything I had was a .22LR and I sold it. I feel secure in semi-anonymously confiding this in you my internet friends, but I really don't want anyone else to find out. Is there anything I can do about this? When I go to the store to look at autoloaders, I like: a 1911. Is there any hope for me? Is there something I can acquire to hide my Fuddness? Do I have to spend as much as a SCAR, MPX Rattler, MP5 or an NFA accessory? What's the blackest black gun I can get?

When I look at AR's, I'm kind of more attracted to Mini-14's. That's why I know I need your help. I reload for 6.5 Grendel and I have a thousand cases and a progressive setup for it. I was reading the recent thread on "AR ignorance" and got some ideas from there. It looks like the AK market for Grendel is still nascent with what Vepr and Zastava maybe? Suppose I get a 7.62x39 AK like a Century pistol, or better an Aresenal or Rifle Dynamics. Does that even get me more anti-Fudd points than an AR? What about an Benelli M4?

If I had a rifle or shotgun, I would shoot it for sure. Range trips cost me nothing other than what I shoot and I go more than once a week. But off the range, a black rifle would just sit in my safe. Am I better off with a pistol for carry? Glock, CZ, M&P, XDM, P320, FN9 or Five7? Are any of these even less Fuddly than the others?

I know what you'll say. That a Fudd is more about what one believes than what he owns or uses. But if I just mentally assent that it's "ok" for other people to have black guns, is that really enough?

While you have all the characteristics of a Fudd on this forum, need to get involved on a site that specializes in only traditional muzzle loaders....you'll soon be run out of town for your radical choices in firearms.

NO. YOU MUST GET AN AR WITH UPPERS FOR 7.62x39 AND YOUR CHOICE OF .50 BEOWULF OR .458 SOCOM!!1!!one!!

Seriously, just not judging people for what they like and doing what you can to prevent politicians from taking them is enough. Your preferences are your preferences.
Of course, it you want something more black-rifle, 6.5 Grendel is a good round in an AR platform, and is pretty non-fudd as you can get in the sub-30 rifle calibers.

And if you want to carry, anything polymer or 'tactical' is pretty unfuddly--if you don't like tactical, find one without the rail and claim it's 'high-speed, low-drag'--though a nice 1911 modernized would fit. I'm a CZ and Ruger fan, myself.

I always thought a fudd was an ignorant know it all who doesn't realize firearms technology passed them by.

As something of a dinosaur (only revolvers and 1911s) my advice is not worth much. Still I think if you start carrying your revolver BOTH appendix style and in a kydex holster that would show you are trying.

Google defines fudd as follows: According to the Urban Dictionary, a "Fudd" is a, "Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment.

So your're not a fudd just based on gun preferences.

I'm on the south side of 30 years old and only own one semi at the moment (Ruger 10/22). My rifles are bolt guns and my handguns are all revolvers. Don't see a hint wrong with a semi at all. I love me an AR. But prefer me a classic. Maybe I'll snag up another mini 14 or a Remington model 81 in the future. Who knows,ya like what ya like. Asking as your not ignorant about it ,your not a Fudd, your a fellow gun enthusiast.

Bluing and wood stocks does not a fudd make. Same for 1911's and revolvers. Loudly proclaiming their indifference or willingness for the stripping of rights, firearms, and associated products because they don't use them or particularly like them is what makes someone a fudd. A good example of fudds coming out of the woodwork is when looking at magazine size, action types, cyclic rates, bumpfiring, etc. To me fudds are Trojan horses touting their virtues while simultaneously being in favor of despicable things...they are antigunners who just happen to own a gun and therefore feel their opinion should hold additional weight as, "one of us."

I don't believe you are a FUDD. I think you should own, shoot enjoy what you like. While my tastes might be a little more varied I think bolt action rifles & revolvers are cool. I own one 1911 & one revolver. Of the few handguns I own I think they are the best. However I find myself carrying & shooting something plastic & striker fired the most. Isn't life ironic. Oh & if you think you might like a 1911 you probably would. Their ergonomics are wonderful. My SR 1911 makes me look like I know how to shoot.

As for 6.5 Grendel I have read about that round & it sounds really neat & interesting I just don't think I really have a purpose for it & don't want to spend the cash to get into it. Is it available in a platform other than the AR?

I have no problems with Fudd's. I will respect you and your choices as long as you respect my right to not be a Fudd.

Because you reload for 6.5 I’m gonna recommend a Ruger precision in 6.5. It’s an all black rifle that is bolt action and won’t effect your fuddness. I am also a Fudd at heart, even though I do own some semi-auto classics.

Yessir. I was just looking at a couple from CZ and Howa. Brownells had a Howa 20" bull barrel and action on sale that was very tempting...and the CZ 527 single set trigger calls to me too.
