How many of your guns do you modify in some way?

I've changed out grips in most of the guns I've owned that it was possible to do so on. Aside from grips, installing an SRT in a p226 a few years ago is the extent of my modifications.

All of them. Often before I even shoot them...

Chuckled last night as I brought home a nib Ruger MK IV. Directly from the box to the work bench. A new firing pin and extractor. Also removed the right side safety lever. Added a red dot.

With most guns I think of as a basic platform from which I build a weapons system.

I do small mods to my guns. The most often change I make is larger aftermarket grips because I need a larger grip.

I’m still in an acquisition stage. In the next few years I’ll likely switch to a modification and improvement phase.

Most that I use a lot.

I suppose every rifle I have ever put a scope on has been modified if we are including “night sights”. If adjusting sights put them into the category of “not how it came from the factory” then that would include a bunch more.

Depends on the use. For sd I leave them alone, I replace night sights/ springs when needed, but otherwise I trust the engineers to have made the best choices. Then I have steel shooting guns that have 5 times their value in extras. Same with rifles. As far as defense guns....
I carry Glock of some flavor 99.9% of the time. Under 400 bucks and ready to go. I put in a glock 3.5 lb disconnect and nothing else.
My sigs (all 220/226/229 variants) get hogue wrap around grips.
My HK get set up for Da/Sa. Whichever variant they choose to call it.
My 1911s that I hunt with or carry get hogue wrap around grips. My 10mms got a shok-buff.
Revolvers get whatever grip I think feels best. Usually x- frame grips on my 329 and 629. Rugers I actually prefer the factory wood.
It's kind of like a vehicle. If I buy a vehicle to use as a toy (race/ offroad/whatever) I may put 20x the value in add-ons. But if I buy one to depend on, I leave it the way the engineers wanted it for the most part. Some of them you would be hard pressed to find a stock mechanical piece. But my two I actually depend on, are bone stock . All the way down to the oem oil specifications and filters. Ive learned my lessons the hard way on that.

Some have been modded, especially grips-I detest checkering. Some, like my RDB, get tacticool accouterments, for better in-home viability. Many get some kind of optic. A Ruger 10-22 became a JBM Bullpup. Only one, a Colt Mark IV, received quite a rebuild as a pin gun, trigger, ejector, sights, bushingless bull-barrel, compensator, extended adjustable slide-stop, custom grips.

Darn near all of them, whether it is with sights, trigger jobs, grips, scopes, whatever. Rarely have I found a stock gun that meets my own particular needs.

It's @ 50/50 for me. I modify them to make it easier or more accurate to shoot, or for usage in
their intended purpose.

Shoot, all of my weapons have some sort of "modification".
Be it a sight, a grip, a muzzle brake, a "paint job", whatever.
My weapons are mine and reflect my likes and dislikes.

Built my AR and have changed several things since original build.

Changed sights out for TruGlo on my Glock 19.

Changed front bead and butt pad for a Limbsaver on Mossberg 500.

Changed out springs in a Taurus revolver.

New trigger guard and trigger and front sight on a Marlin 60.

New stock on Marlin XT22.

Free floated Savage 11 and a Tikka T3.

Changed bolt shroud and butt pad on Tikka.

Stripped and refinished a CMP Garand, will upgrade the plug for one that can fire factory 30-06.

I guess the only ones I haven’t modified are a CVA Optima muzzleloader (except for installing a scope) and a Remington V3, which is a perfect firearm out of the box and requires no modifications.

Almost no modifications to pistols. My rifles get a bit of TLC like trigger jobs on some. I also like to refinish wood stocks to a higher level. Some plastic stocks get the rattle can treatment

Then there are the ARs

For Handguns that would be GRIPS, and Trigger Jobs.... and removing mag safety if present

For Rifles, Free floating, Glass/pillar bedding, trigger adjustment or replacement... and If I can find a good one I like better CHEAP, replace the stock.

The vast majority of them.

On the steel and aluminum ones they almost always get new grips. Either wood or G10/Micarta (because I like how they look and feel) generally.

Sometimes the polymer ones get stippled or have Talon 'Grips' (stickers) added to them.

Almost all of them get new sights (BHP's, CZ's, Glocks, 1911's, S&W M&P's, Walthers, H&K's, Sigs etc).

AR's, AK's, H&K 91's, PTR's, FAL's, FN Scars, CZ rifles etc are all the same way. Rarely do they come exactly like how I want them.

Same with bolt action or single shot falling block rifles. At the very least those usually get a scope (even if it comes with a scope it's always one of those package deal scopes), then rings/bases, sling, maybe a buttcuff.

So it's a rare gun that doesn't get changed in some way.

I am in the minority here. I keep pretty much everything stock. I also only find time to go shooting once or twice a year now, so if I get to a point where I can afford to go shooting more, that may change.

I'm the same way with my cars also. Basically just keep it stock. If it ain't broke I generally don't fix it.

Pretty much, yes all of them. I either build them from scratch, put on grips and sights, or I would LIKE to modify it, but I decide it isn't worth the cost. I just paid $275 for a Ruger American .243 for my sister, and I would like to drop it in a Magpul stock, but the stock would cost about as much as I paid for the rifle, so I won't.

The market and the options fascinate me. I browse Midway and Brownell's endlessly. I love that the industry has evolved to where a total amateur like me can build a great rifle from scratch.

All of them. Painted the front sight and added grip tape on my CCW Ruger EC9s. Night sights, grip tape and a Crimson Trace on my house G19. Drop in BX trigger, a V-block barrel stabilizer and removed the barrel band on my Ruger 10/22. Almost nothing to my W.W. AR15 other than an extended charging handle. Have scopes for both my rifles, but they really aren't mods that effect performance, and they're not always installed.

Never owned a gun that I did not modify.

First of all, manufacturers do not finish their guns (especially internals) the way they’re supposed to be finished for optimal function. Also, often parts used are the cheaper option, when better ones are available or can be made. The fine finishing being time consuming, and needing skills, off-the-shelf prices would skyrocket if they did it at the factory - simple...

Then, very often a gun may need some sort of external mod or finishing to better fit the owner, or the job at hand.

Last, aesthetics... A nicer stock or grips, a touch here and there...

If you count grips on handguns and scopes on rifles, most of my guns get some sort of modifications.

Some guns like M1911s get more treatment than most of my revolvers.

Most rifles get some improvements besides scopes although shotguns do not.

I've built numerous AR-15s and a few M1911's, the ultimate "modification".

Nothing has ever been modified: original Enfields, four present AKs (wear a winter glove for trigger “slap”), several Sigs and a CZ, .22 handguns, .380 Makarov etc.
I’ve never owned any scope.

A better trigger is always desired, but expert shooters claim that other fancy gear won’t make us a better shot if our shooting stinks and/or we don’t practice.

I change whatever is needed.

Example....My 700 wears factory Tupperware stock, but it's been free floated, stiffened and then custom painted, w plastic trigger guard swapped out for steel and a GreTan firing pin/shroud to get rid of the %$# J lock.
Of course it is scoped.

Even on my Smith 629's...........I'd smooth the sides of the trigger. That's all they ever needed.
My Commander has a few aftermarket parts in it.

I'd like to buy stuff that doesn't need mods, as that's more time and $.
