550 is an excellent price by the way.
Was actually 500, plus an extra colt mag, holster, and 150 rds of ammo. It came from my uncle who doesnt make much money, and needed some. It's slow season for painters. I told him he could always buy it back, as he didnt really want to sell it.

This is the same uncle who sold the 30 or so guns he inherited from my grandpa when he passed. We layed all the guns out and took turns picking. He didnt give me or my other uncle even a chance to buy any.

I bought this one about 6 months ago. It has gun oil on it, so looks cloudy. Nice finish actually. Have not even gotten a chance to shoot it yet.

I used to own one. Nice little gun. I think you had a great deal. The most important thing with these little Colts is the quality of the magazine: from this depends most of the reliability of this pistol in my experience.

5-Shots

Have been using only factory magazines with my Colt Mustang, including a couple of 7 shot magazines from the Government .380 I use to have. Never a problem with any of them; one of the things I definitely value about this gun is how reliable it is.

My little Colt stainless was originally purchased new by my father in 1992 or something like that. It came with one magazine. Twenty years or so later the gun was given to me and I purchased a spare stainless steel Colt magazine from Midway; it wasn't as good as the one that came with the pistol; it had some dimensional differences in the feed lips and the shape of the follower was also slightly different; it had also a stiffer spring. Those things combined made the pistol not 100% reliable with the new magazine. For "serious" use I always used the one that came with the pistol. Just my experience.
I loved the little Colt, how it looked and how it shooted, but since it started to become a safe queen it had no more room in my safe. Sold to purchase the Pardini.
