So apparently Benchmade has decided to salt the earth this week, and alot of folk are not happy with them volunteering for this, the post was yanked in short order.

Any thoughts

I see sparks and what looks like maybe an unharmed 1100 without a barrel, any details?

Wouldn’t shock me though. Like shotgun folks throwing semiauto rifle owners under the bus. “Ahh, they won’t ever come after us.” Thinking.

I don’t see an issue here. They make good knives and help law enforcement destroy guns that are used in crimes, confiscated or otherwise submitted for destruction. No biggie.

IN a time of scarce resources, selling them intact or the parts is a better response. Otherwise, everyone else's taxes go up. No biggie other than government waste and destruction of valuable assets.

It's common practice to destroy guns after the case is closed. Unfortunately the police department can't just list the guns from the evidence room up for auction as easily as retired vehicles or unclaimed merchandise.

But they can in AZ it's against the law to do anything but resell them

The fact that the Police posted the pictures to their site is only a political stunt, and Benchmade should have know better than to get sucked into the political crap. Has Benchmade posted a comment on this?

Regardless of the inevitable fate of the firearms in question, Benchmade screwed up big time. I'd wager that an extreme majority of their clientele are gun owners.

Personally, I've always felt they were on the spendy side for EDC knives and prefer the style and operation of US made Kershaws anyway. But that didn't mean I'd never buy one. Now I won't.

Watching 2A fanatics lose their minds in the FB comments is its own case for gun control. Too many “I’m going to shoot my benchmade with all my manly guns to show those socialist cucks they messed with the wrong man” to count.

I’m pretty sure the gun community is the only group of people that hears about a mass shooting and immediately wonders what the fate of the guns used is. Too bad we gun owners don’t get as collectively outraged over humans getting destroyed.

And yes, I know THR is a more elevated level of discourse. The public Facebook comments are not flattering to gun owners, and although there’s a lot of gun owners on that thread, there are not that many from Oregon or Oregon City, but there’s plenty of locals watching that cluster blow up on their police departments page. Way to confirm biases against gun ownership by suspicious locals, gun community...

People getting their feeling hurt on social media once again.

Departments destroy guns, dope and whatever is being disposed from their property rooms every day. I can see a small department having a large company destroy the few guns they might have to get rid of. The dept's social media person needs to be canned. There was no point in that post. They would have been better off buying a chop saw or angle grinder and doing it themselves.

Its quite clear to those of us actually in the gun community that you are certainly not part of it, if you really believe foolish statements like this one.
