Just bought a Weatherby Vanguard

I had the same rifle, 300wm too. Very accurate rifle. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Vanguard.

Found this at Bud's for $500.00. I decided on the 300 Winmag. 26" barrel. They have all the Weatherby calibers from .240 to .300. Including the new 6.5 -300. The .375 was a little more at around $600.00. View attachment 827935
Sky Dog nice riffle what scope are you thinking about mounting? I heard from a friend of mine Weatherby quality has gone way back up. The fit & finish is second to none.

Really nice rifles for the price. I have an older one in 7mm Magnum, and I've been really impressed with it for the pittance I paid.

I have a Bushnell Banner 6 x 24 or a 5 x 20 Nikon Monarch. Curious to whether they can hold zero from the recoil.

Nice rifle. Now it is time for a scope. Don't go cheap on the scope or mounts. I see people at the club that waste ammo and time trying to made a cheap scope/mounts work on a nice rifle.

I’ve got a Vanguard in .257Wby. Bought it used for $250 in ‘07. Needed a new trigger (Timney) and fore stock releaved a bit. But now Shoots great!
Wears an older Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x. Does what it was intended to do-
A poor-mans bean-field rifle.

For mounts I went with a Warne rail and PRW rings. Negates the issue of ring spacing on the long action. I think Leupold changed the PRWs and not sure if they are as good , have not tried them

I paid $299.99 for a new one, chambered in .257 Weatherby Magnum, seven years ago. The Howa-built action is strong and well-made. The stock trigger on mine is fine and the rifle has proven to be very accurate with factory ammunition. I will probably never shoot this rifle often enough to warrant reloading for it-I have too many other choices and reasons.

Walmart was clearing them out last summer for $247 or something ridiculous like that. I bought one in 270 and one in 30-06. Because I’m a lefty I’m hoping to use them for trading fodder for LH guns. I’m sure they would be great shooters but I mostly bought them because of the crazy price.
