My buddy lives in cook county.. Schaumburg not Chicago.. and the other day he mentioned that ALL semi-auto rifles were illegal in Cook county... even .22s and other "non scary looking" semi auto rifles.
Is that actually true?? I know he was looking at things on Bud's website and their restriction page does say all semi auto rifles... but sometimes company policy differs from actual law.
If so, since when?

This thread in this link lists what is banned. http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66426
That list reads like a shopping list to me!

What they're doing is banning anything that would be effective in carrying out the original purposes of the 2nd Amendment.

Either you trust the population with the "arms of the soldier" or you don't. The Founders opted to trust the population. That had to do with "self determination" and "consent of the governed," the ideas that sparked the American Revolution. I guess things like that don't resonate any more.

M-1 Garand....not listed anywhere I've ever found. If you need a short carbine acquire a Mini-G-- http://shuffsparkerizing.com/services/the-mini-g/ . A fixed-mag SKS might be a cheaper lawful option for Cook legal firepower.
No one ever makes sense of the Cook County AWB. I have never heard of anyone in otherwise lawful possession being prosecuted...but there's always a first time. Hardly anyone wants to even deal with shipping/selling most gun-related items to Crook County....some extend this to ALL of Illinois just to be "safe".
