I am shopping a couple of holsters. One will be for my Mother in-laws SW Shield EZ.380. The other will be for the wife's Valentine's day present, a CZ P07G2. I have a lot of experience with Safariland belt/paddle holsters. I use one for duty and general carry. OWB hardshell detent retention model. I am very pleased with this style, however their options for the 2 HGs in question are limited to non-existent. I did look into this model... http://aliengearholsters.com/sw-mp380-shield-ez-paddle-holster.html but have no experience with them. The features seem to be what I'm looking for and it's available in both models.

Purpose will be outdoor rural carry, including ATV, horseback, and farm chores as well as general range use and possibly informal action shoots in the case of the CZ. Wondering what the fine folks here would recommend. Particularly interested in the safety features of a model available for the Smith. AZ is an open carry state, and the CZ will be used in the great outdoors, so true concealability is not a concern.

I'd probably never own one, and generally try and talk people out of them, but these are probably the uses where the BlackHawk SERPA becomes a useful holster.

For those kind of things, I'd probably start with Safariland, as you've done, but not finding an offering from them, I'd probably try the SERPA.

I don't know if they cover those two pistols, but I just recalled, Comp-Tac offers active retention on their International holster.

Blade-Tech also offers active retention

I don't know what they currently have, but High Noon generally does a good job covering the CZ products.

You may like the Alienware. I do not use them as my carry firearm usually has an attachment, which they do not support. They have a forever warranty and a 30 day test drive. If you end up not liking them, you will just be out some time instead of money for the holster.

Settled on an IMI L2 for the CZ, I have a couple of their magazine holders and like them, and a cheap nylon model with a full snap over retention strap for the EZ. We'll see how the MIL likes that one. Don't expect her to be in any sort of quick draw situation, as she gets more proficient with her sidearm, she can decide what she really wants.

I find a pancake style holster to be the most comfortable when I'm on a horse. Don't really need any extra retention unless you're riding bronc's. When a longer barrel gun like a 1911 you can't have too much cant or the barrel will rub the cantle, but for compacts its not a problem.

Another vote for Simply Rugged.. I have carried 1911s and revolvers in these holsters on ATVs, dirt bikes, and horseback and never had a problem.

Just received the IMI holster from the CZ all the way from Israel. I really like it. Does everything the Safariland does for less money. Took some working of it to limber up the retention detent, now it's operating smoothly as it should.

If total concealment isn't important, try one of the Bianchi military style holsters. You should be able to find one for the CZ at least.

Protects the gun and only the end of the handle sticks out. My M12 holster did a great job of protecting my G20SF when I took a 50' tumble into a ravine while backpacking.
