I'm almost 58 years old.

I was surprised at the gutteral reaction I had when I pulled this out of the mailbox yesterday. I instantly thought "This is going to be so fun to sit down with and just turn the pages!"

In this modern-day, online, website, have-it-delivered-tomorrow culture this seems like quite a marketing idea. The picture doesn't convey it - but it is thick and has a lot of product in it.....all for just reloading.

[I have no association with MidwayUSA whatsoever - other than being a customer. I'm fascinated they took this marketing step; as well as how it reminded me of something from when I was really young.]

Up until recently, Midway shipped out a new catalog every year. I've still got a couple of the older ones that I occasionally use as a reference when I want to look up a mold number, etc. They're handy and I'm glad to see them bring it back.

I agree. As much as I like the internet as a tool for many things, I love the feeling of flipping pages... Be it this, or especially a reloading manual. PDF downloads, and websites just don't do it for me like a good analog printed paper delivery device.

I get the Brownell's catalog too. Nice reference when you need to show something to someone.

My neighbor was here and saw the Grainger Catalog and thought it was big till I showed him McMasterCarr.

The Grizzly Catalog is nice to browse through if you like tools......

Golly, I spend a lot of money at Midway and have never received a catalog. Maybe if I stop spending money on their website, they will send me a catalog. Heck, I didn't even know they published a catalog.

I hear ya. I can't say a I spend a lot of money there any more but maybe I would if I could sit down and leisurely look at what they have to offer with out having to do an internet search that brings up things I don't care about and only half of what I'm looking for.
Then when I do buy something I get that ridiculous free off for completing a survey that they say will give me $x.00 of dollors of merchandize free to find out I have to spend $60.00 in buying worthless magazines that they get a kick back on.

It's even more fascinating to me to know that some get catalogs and others do not. I, as an example, have not received their full catalog.

My strong suspicion is that they have and do enough analytics to know/conclude that "Mr. OtisRush has bought some, but not a ton, of reloading equipment from us. We know the reloader has to purchase other stuff.....and he's not getting it from us. He could be a prime catalog candidate."

If someone has bought dies.....but no powder or primers or [whatever]......there's probably a further sales opportunity.

Alternatively, if someone's buying a ton.......the business / loyalty has already been won.

Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Gander Mountain, I use to get catalogs from all of them. Now just the weekly or Monthly Special Sale paper. I have started receiving a catalog from Natchez but not one from Midway USA. I have never purchased anything from Natchez but quite a bit from Midway. I am also on Midway USA and MidSouth email lists and get sales updated daily.

I wish cabelas would stop sending me their cra- um, stuff.
I have never bought one article of clothing from them. But they seem to think I am naked. Get I never get any handloading oriented flyers. I know they exist...

I do like my Brownells catalogue. A real catalogue, with products that have staying power. With non-wifi viewable contents.
And with a huge potato farmer on the front cover holding what looks to be a youth model Winchester Ninety Two!:D

My hunch is that if one signs up for their email (like moi) that is no cost to them, there is no need to spend the money on catalogs and postage.

Me thinks I'll just call customer service and request a catalog instead of guessing as to why i never got one.

There's only one problem with catalogs.....compared to their web site. They are static. No updates after things go out-dated.....and in this modern post Sears Catalog world that's a given in 2 months. but I don't complain when I get one.......they are fun to wear out in front of the fire on a cold winter's evening.;)

That said, that's what I use my newish laptop for........with it's nice active touch screen......still finger-flipping pages.......endless choices too....Grafs....RCBS.....Dillon.....Midway.....Brownells....Natchess....on and on. Thank goodness for the fire place.....it's still there.:)

I've contacted Brownells, Midway and any other gun related outfit that sends me paper catalogs in the mail to PLEASE STOP.
They are all to happy to oblige.

Reason 1: I buy online mostly 100% anyway. the hard copy catalogs are often out of date the minute I get them.
Reason 2: I don't want the post office carrier or my neighbors to whom our mail is often mis-delivered to know my business.

To be clear: I love hard copy catalogs, I love outfits like Brownells, Cabela's & Midway but I just feel in my case that discretion is the smart way to go.
And it's not about jut gun related stuff that I want eliminated from my mailbox; it's also for things like checks, tax filings, medical results and ANYTHING else I can manage to stop being mailed.
In short if there's something I can do to keep the USPS out of the loop and my life I'll do it.

Some day maybe I'll actually be able to get rid of the mailbox altogether or simply weld it shut.

I got mine last night. I was going through all of the junk mail from the last few days, and the Midway reloading catalog was the only thing I kept. I flipped through it for a few minutes, and set it on the counter. It will probably sit there for a few weeks before someone gets tired of seeing it, and it will be forgotten forever.
It definitely took me back to the old days for a minute.

Got my copy last night. I smiled and put it on the counter for safe keeping. I may even flip through he pages a bit if I'm bored over the next few days . But for the most part It will probably sit there until someone cleans up and throws it away, it did take me back to my younger years when I saw it though.
