gun safe dings

I don't own any safe queens I guess, but if I had a really precious item I'd do the same storage I do now- handful of dessicants in a sealed soft sided container.

I use the socks on every one. But, what does "silicone treated" really mean? So, I always spray the socks again with aerosol silicone.

Easy. Store only one half the number of the guns the safe advertises it can store. No more dings.

My guns are all for the range, hunting, or self defense so I expect them to get some wear and tear. That being said, if I need to get a gun out of the back, I just take all the guns out that are in front of it.

I'm just careful when I take guns out and put them in. It works. I stack my handguns. I use heavy weight 100% synthetic socks, the kind you wear on your feet, to store them in and am also careful when handling them. No dings and no rust.

Get in the habit of closing the door slowly and gently if any resistance stop and see why.

Socks can trap moisture and silicone is just about the worst thing you can put on a gun. Silicone is forever - you cannot get it off and will make your grip slippery as hell. Get a little on your hands and everything you touch will be contaminated. Ask anyone who does fine wood refinishing or any piano or guitar repair guy about dealing with silicone on any kind of finish. The only thing I want on my guns is a thin layer of oil and dry air. I used to use silcone rags. Not any more.
