So...
Was looking for some powder and primers. Went to
SCHEELS,,,in Navada
These guys and gals are superstars.
I bought 5lb of powder and 3k of primers very very reasonable and 15% off powder ended up about $21.00 lb And same with primers and they have about 50 or 60 different powders but no BE-86.
The staff is AWESOME all the employees have some amount of ownership in the store and really shows. No place in .ca, provides customer service like this.
Looked at bullets brass equip all a few dollars less then midway

Get it while you can down there, hopefully *they* never figure out one can manufacture their own ammo in California. Sadly, it won’t surprise me when they go after the reloaders down there. I have lots of friends and family in your boat and I’ve been encouraging them to get into reloading and start stock piling components now.

I agree, Scheels is a great store! I'm happy to give them my business.
They have a pretty good stock on reloading supplies.

The going after the reloader....
Now you gotta get on line ammo delivered to an ffl next is a tax stamp and the revenewers will be after us.
I have stock piled 3 lifetimes of brass 5/600lb of lead several molds 40lb powder and 12k primers. A boat load of 22 and 12ga.
Every chance I get I add a lil more.
I think I'm good for a lil bit.
You are right!! We are next!!

Reno is a great place for big box reloading supply stores. Scheels is right there in Sparks, Sportsmans Warehouse is a couple miles south on 395 just past Costco and Cabelas right on the border used to be a good place but I've heard their prices went up and quality went down since being taken over by BPS. Sportsmans Warehouse is still reasonable on prices when you don't have to include shipping and hazmat from mail order.

It's only a matter of time before Califas sets up customs inspection stations at the border. Not the Mexican border, the other ones.
There will be inspections, looking for contraband.

You know the kind I mean.

So....
I stopped at sportsman, and cabelas Scheels was far more reasonable and 15% discount on reloading supply

My God... Talk about paradise lost. I have an Uncle who has been in S. CA for 50 years, and to hear how it *used* to be. SIGH. Talk about taking a silk purse, and turning it into a sows ear (worse). You 'normal' folks in the state have my sympathy.

PS, can C&R folks even receive C&R eligible firearms (shipped to their door/no additional checks?)

I say "Reno is California's best kept secret!" Cabela's-Scheels-Sportsman's are always on the shopping destination list. Xtreme Bullets near Carson City used to do walk-in sales but no longer offer that. But in the last election the Republicans & Independents slept! We now have a Democrat Gov, Lt. Gov, Attorney Gen, and State Treasurer. And their battle cry being: "We want to make Nevada just like California!" Ugh!!! That translates into "We wanna be yo Momma!"

Was recently in Reno and hit all of those places - though not primarily for reloading purposes, other than to see what they had in that area. Love Scheel's. Have been there before. Went there specifically to get new boots for the boss (I got some there 2 years ago, she got great walking shoes then), and also shop snowshoes, and generally look around.

Well stocked up on most things shooting/reloading-related, so didn't buy anything, but did browse those sections for fun. First time I went there a few years back, there was a young clerk whose name tag had the last name "Earp". I had to ask. Yep, he was related. Hard to beat a Wyatt Earp descendant working in a western store's shooting section.

Another great thing in Reno is the county shooting range, up north towards Pyramid Lake.

To answer a question above, I believe C&R holders who also have a COE (another state ID, basically just fingerprinting and a fee) can still receive C&R rifles directly - as well as ammo.

16in50calNavalRifle...Glad you had a good experience here! We moved over from Jamestown CA 21 years ago. The range out on Pyramid is pretty nice. I have a spot out in the desert I go out to.

The other day my brother, who lives in Yuba City CA, was working on his newly acquired street bike and found out that he needed to re-jet the carb. The previous owner put on an aftermarket exhaust system which caused carb issues. The online vendor he was ordering the jets from DOES NOT SHIP TO CA! I'll be getting a package in the mail in a few days.

I live in So. Oregon and the first town north of the border has only one or maybe two places to buy components, but the next town north, 50 miles, has a good gun shop and I've heard some CA reloaders drive up there for components. There is an inspection station at the border, going back to CA for produce, but it wouldn't be difficult to have the officers ask about gunpowder, ammo, etc., also. But they are suffering from CA's lack of funds so they are only open "normal" business hours, and just ask with very few, if any searches...

I could order one 8 pound jug of powder from Powder Valley, pay hazmat and shipping and still get it cheaper then Sportsmans. Sportsmans wants $10 more per thousand primers then most mail order places as well. Either my local Sportsmans is gouging us on prices or you haven't shopped around lately?

Example being 8 pounds Win 748 powder, PV has it for $170 with shipping / hazmat it comes out to $205. Sportsmans wants $200 with sales tax its $214. Order a few things to spread out the hazmat cost and or catch PV with free shipping or hazmat and the savings increase.

Long guns yes, handguns no. If handguns are purchased instate or shipped, they must go through 07FFL. The strange part is, if I were to drive out of state and purchase a C&R eligible handgun, I can bring it back and submit the proper notification form along with a small fee within 5 days and I'm good.

I just bought 1000 Remington Large rifle primers last week for $33+tax= $35.64. That's all I needed for my reloading supplies this week. I'm glad you can get your one box of primers for $25 delivered with hazmat or are you cherry picking? If not, then yes your Sportsmans is gouging you. ;)

Got a flyer from Sportsman's advertising their Spring Shooting Sale. Win primers (all sizes) going for $27.99. Prices good: 3/15 - 3/24.
