You just gotta keep rubbing it in don't ya?
Maybe I missed your post about hitting the lottery or something. Are you trying to catch up with Driftwood Johnson and his collection? I mean dang, you buy more revolvers than I even see in my rambling through the pawn shops. LOL.

Seriously though... Great score. Beautiful gun.

Another great score, Ed! If you dont mind my asking what did you pay for it?

I don't mind. I actually bought 2 from the same collection. Both 2.5" Model 66-1's. Both NIB. The other one had standard grips, hammer and trigger. I gave 2k for the pair. I kept the one in the picture and let the owner of my LGS have the other for 1k.

I didn't win the lottery for sure and I have been extremely lucky in the last few months with the guns I've found. I have had to sell some of my other stuff to keep some of the nice guns I've found lately. And some of those will probably eventually get sold or traded for things I find down the road. I enjoy the hunt for guns as much if not more than owning and shooting them. It just amazes me what you can find if you look hard enough. Something else that amazes me is how many nice and/or new guns there are out there that are 40-100 years old. And one huge difference in me and the average collector. I will shoot the hell out of a real nice collectable gun. A NIB gun will probably get a pass, but every other gun I buy is going to get shot. If I like the way it shoots, I will shoot it until I realize it is not in the regular rotation going to the range and then I may pass it along so someone else can enjoy it. I get a real kick out of trying different loads and finding what works best in most every gun I buy.

Very nice.
I also have a 66-1 2.5" with target hammer & trigger. (Lower left of my avatar) I bet it also had those RB Targets when new. It had aftermarket grips when I got it. The combats in the pic were borrowed from my 686-1.

Beautiful.

I've lusted after the 2.5 inch 66, or 19, for a while. I have a 66-2 (4 inch) that I love and that I shoot in revolver matches. A guy who occasionally joins our crew on my duty day at the range has an unfired 66-no dash (also 4 inch) that he sometimes has in his holster. Someone *gave it* to him. These things don't happen to me.

I lucked into a 2.5 inch King Cobra stainless a few years ago. Bobbed hammer, handling marks, sat on consignment for a month, unloved and seemingly unnoticed, before I forced myself to finally get it (good price). New hammer from Numrich, trip to Colt Custom Shop for refinishing. Just like that, worth a fair amount - which is not the point. And like the OP, I shoot it. Also shoot a Magnum Carry (barely used, but not NIB) I came across a few more years ago.

And now a club where I shoot some matches may have a snub-nose match occasionally.

Have no particular use for snubs, but they do always draw my eye for some reason.
