Think I find my load

Obviously you do not understand the addictve nature of the handloading hobby very well. :scrutiny:
Now you must find a load that shoots better! :what:

It is a never ending quest, Grasshopper!

BTW, those that say the .270 is incappable of excellent accuracy, obviously haven't worked with one very much. All three .270 Winchesters I have worked up loads for (Ruger #1, Parker-Hale, and Tikka T3 Lite) were all capable of sub 1" 5-round groups.
My Tikka prefers the Berger 140g and IMR48031 with a cci200 primer. VERY similar to your load. ;)

New to this game I'm, assuming.

Now you need to confirm the load under different ambient conditions. If repeatable you have a good base to work from. There are more powders and bullet combo's that may prove to be a lot better.

There is no end to this madness. Your always working to improve.

Looks good. I'm not one for the never ending load development, once i confirm the pressures are acceptable and the accuracy is there i just load and shoot.unless components change of course. But i rarely shoot over 100 yards. I do load for a buddy who has a 338 lapua mag, he likes the endless tinkering of loads - but doesnt trust himself to assemble the cartridges and says he doesnt have time either:rofl:, and never shoots over 400 yards anyway.

That load youve got looks plenty good for hunting, what kind of groups can you get from factory ammo with this rifle?

I'm not the best shot, that's just about the best 5 shot group I've ever achieved, now that I'm reloading I've found that I shoot allot more so I'm hoping that my shooting improves
After you load and fire a few hundred, buy a box of good quality factory ammo and see if the groups are comparable, if so youre doing great.

With my three 270's (stock Savage rifles) I can often shoot a 5 shot group that a quarter will just hide using 130 grain Sierra Grand Slams at 100 YDS. I bet your rifle is more accurate than this.;) Most 270's are, but so far you are off to a good start.

Have 300 more of these so going to load up some and keep practicing, I have a range at home and shoot just about every weekend so will be getting plenty of practice

Need to come two clicks to the right, then go hunting!

Both my .270’s do that with 140’s. Even better with 150gr GameKings.
However, Speer HotCores are substantially cheaper, almost as accurate and a better game bullet...

The Grand Slam is not noted for its match grade accuracy, though. A damn fine big game bullet, but nobody goes looking for ultimate accuracy loading the Grand Slam. If you want to find the true accuracy potential for your Savage, I suggest you work with the 140 gr. Sierra Match Kings or the Berger 140 gr. Hunting bullets. I am betting your Savages will do significantly better! ;)

I like the GS in my Tikka .30-06, but the best accuracy I have been able to squeeze out if them so far is right at 1-3/8" at 100 yards for a five round group. The Bergers are consistently sub MOA, though.
