Just out of curiosity, was it hard to get the spent primer out?Pulled the trigger on my Ruger #1, little pop, no bang, primer pushed out a little.
Wow, strange. I have never ever heard of that happening to anyone! Was this the only case with no hole?

i'd send that picture to Hornady. they would get a kick out of that.
I recall reading in a very old Dillon Blue Press ad, where a round w/o a flash hole caused a competitor to lose, and that was one factor, inspiration for Mike to start making presses. My memory may be way off, but I *think* it's as I recall.Wow, strange. I have never ever heard of that happening to anyone! Was this the only case with no hole?
I was decapping and neck sizing after pulling the bullet and dumping the powder. Obviously, the decapping pin didn't work.
Not too bad, just used some vice grips.
Whatever you do, DON'T drill it. That is really cool, and you'll almost certainly never see another one.I guess I'll get out a drill. LOL
How was it inspiration for Dillon to start making presses? Are you implying the competitor was using factory-loaded ammo? That begs the question of whether factory loaded ammo uses the same new brass that we can buy for reloading.I recall reading in a very old Dillon Blue Press ad, where a round w/o a flash hole caused a competitor to lose, and that was one factor, inspiration for Mike to start making presses.
I am thinking that, except for maybe the mouth, new brass is already sized as a factory round would be. Yes/no?Curious, so do you size new brass? Wouldn't the de capping pin have hit it then?

Yes, as I remember (I think pushing 20 years ago when I read this) it was a factory round that had no flash-hole... Something too is welling up about it being in a foreign country (Italy?). Maybe this happening initially inspired Mr. Dillon at first to reload, and then to make his own equipment.
No flash hole I remember for sure - Exactly the circumstances, where, what it lead him to do exactly I am not sure. Think he also commented on other ammo issues as well in regard to competitive shooting, making a statement about the benefits of reloading your own over factory.
Do you recall country of origin?... Wondering if it's domestic, PPU/other. Thanks.Sent a photo and note to Hornady. They asked for the lot #, which I don't have because I had tossed the package several weeks ago.
Nice work Galil5.56. Great story!Wow, Googled: "Mike Dillon" "no flash hole"
