You obviously haven’t had the training I have had. First, don’t trust something designed for birds or rabbits to stop a human-sized threat. Secondly, the buckshot I use (Federal Premium Flight Control) has a six-seven inch pattern at 15 yards. No stay pellets. Mag tube full of buckshot and a side saddle with slugs for shots over 15-20 yards. And even then the buckshot would retain some effectiveness. I am VERY aware of the Mossberg 500 capabilities. There is no more devastating weapon in the law enforcement lethal inventory than the 12 gauge shotgun.
I had semi-annual shotgun training for over twenty years. I grabbed my shotgun on calls requiring a long gun before I’d get the AR-15 out. Took my first deer with a Winchester Model 12.
