Uberti & ASM were the only Dragoon and Walker makers.
Which models did ASM make...all or just the 2nd model?
I have 2nd and 3rd model Dragoons made by ASM

When the Italian replicas were first discussed, there was a strong argument against them ever seeing the light of day from collectors of originals concerned with faking. The companies settled the argument by agreeing to make slight variations from the originals to lessen the problem. As we have seen, they were not entirely successful but if you do your research before buying, you can usually spot a fake.
Is this why most Pietta 1851 Navies have the "infamous" tail grip?
Jim
While many folks claim the Pietta "infamous" tail grip is historically incorrect, a review of real first gen Colt grips shows there were many, many variations and no one style can claim to be specifically correct over the others.
I have an unusual variant of an ASM 3rd model Dragoon, that has three leaf express sights mounted on top, rear, of the barrel. It is new, never fired, though I do not have the box. I've never fired it to check the regulation of the sights. Something else on my "gotta do" list.
