CZ 75 SA...Opinions

I'm baffled by the comments about the "reach" to the safety (trigger reach, sure). I don't have any kind of orangutan thumbs and there's not the tiniest bit of difficulty reaching the safety on a CZ-pattern gun. Now, the angle of the thumb is probably higher than on a 1911... is that what we're talking about?
No, for me it is reach.

The pivot point on the CZ 75 thumb safety is approximately the same distance from the backstrap as is the leading edge (the part closest to the plunger tube) of a 1911 Colt teardrop thumb safety.

Have you tried the safeties on a 75B SA? They are DIFFERENT than the standard 75B safety. While the pivot point is the same, the entire safety lever is set lower, and the part that is pressed by the thumb is also different and more easily accessed.

(This is obvious in the images I posted earlier in this discussion. See response #19.)

Yes.

Yes it is. There is more lever there than the little "half jellybean" that is the standard CZ 75B thumb safety.

This is the key point. The lever could be any shape, but if you can't get enough thumb forward of the pivot point (comfortably and consistently) the improved shape doesn't help very much.

Even the SA CZ safety are an awkward, annoying reach for me.

It's less that I cant do it, it's more that I have years of muscle memory from the 1911 and BHP to override, and I'm not sure I want to.

Recently looked at some 75 variant race gun with the extended safety and it was truly a poor and likely painful fit.

Too bad, the 75 is a great gun, just not a good fit for me.

A few thousand rounds isn't going to make the trigger reach shorter.

The CZ75B family of guns are very comfortable in the hand, but they have a fairly long trigger reach, and the reach to the thumb safety is also fairly long. I'm making no claims about which is a better gun, but the S&W M&P is more small hand friendly than the CZ75B
You’re right of course...... I often read write ups where a comparison is made between the Browning Hi Power and the CZ75b SA. I own both and from my perspective, except for a slight resemblance between the two pistols, they really are much different. The HP at 32 oz, the CZ 36 oz. The reach to the trigger and thumb safeties is much longer on the CZ than the Hi Power. The internals are completely different between the two pistols. To me the CZ is clunky compared to the svelte Hi Power. Both pistols are very reliable, but I prefer the Hi Power.

I do have rather large hands, and slim G10 grips on my 75SA, but I ride the safety on it just like I do my 1911's and have zero issues with it. Feels the same to me.
