Pivotal moment in handgun history

I never cared for Chucks "acting". He seems like a nice guy though from what I've read. Even if he did advertise Glock and Toyota..... I guess the loss of R.L. Ermey opened up a position they had to fill with an American spokesperson. Good luck to him. At least he isnt afraid to be associated with the 2A

Glock is a mass marketing consumer-product company. So like a lot of mass marketing consumer product companies, they spend money on celebrity endorsements by celebrities who don't necessarily have any actual qualification that would make their opinion particularly well-informed. It is important that these endorsers generally have an image that is consistent with the sort of opinion Glock will pay them to espouse, but they're just celebrity spokespeople.

Glock is good at marketing.

Understand that you are referring to a man who can win a game of connect 4 in 3 moves, and counted to infinity twice.

Why can't people just take a lighthearted thread in the manner it is posted?

I mean, obviously it's a marketing gimmick.

I don't think Glock is particularly good at marketing via commercials. Since their beginning I can only think of one slogan, perfection. And only 1 or two commercials. They were great at marketing though, and sold their guns to agencies at incredibly low prices to build a name. And building the simplest gun with the most commonality possible across the platform while making the minimum changes. Just great cost reduction IMO

As far as the celebrities, I think it would be absolutely ignorant to buy a gun (or anything else really) based on a paid celebrity endorsement. When I see a celebrity advertise a firearm I dont think "oooh chuck Norris likes glock....I needs" I actually think "Chuck is going against hollywood and supporting gun ownership" which will do more good for Chuck (If he does anything new which is doubtful) than Glock, at least as far as I'm concerned. We really need more well liked celebrities supporting us. Tom selleck and Chuck are nice, but we need younger, more popular ones to get younger guys into the shooting sports and hunting. To show that it's not some small percentage of redneck tin foil hat wearers that support the 2A like many on the left want people to believe

I also didn't think anyone took it away from the lighthearted thread. I'm still waiting for the "now I dont like Chuck because he supports Glock" folks. Lol

Heard Chuck went to the Virgin Islands. Now it's just called the Islands.

"Celebrities" get paid to endorse products. If anybody thinks they actually know anything about the products, well, so be it. Same for actors endorsing politicians. Why should I respect someone's opinion who became famous reading from a script?

Glock took 70% of the LE market and a huge chunk of the civilian handgun market by nothing but word of mouth advertising. They didn't need a celebrity spokesman until recently. They do have some stiff competition today. Chuck is a good choice for them and I wish Glock well.

So, Glock is now selling handguns in caliber .roundhousekick? Cool!

The other day I was thinking about how cool it would be to take a .50AE and neck it down to take a 180-220 grain 10mm bullet. I think we just came up with the name for it: the 10mm roundhouse!
