Lucas Oil Products

I have used other Lucas Oil products in the past with great results. Some years ago I purchased a bottle of Mobil 1 and use that on my firearms. I may get some Lucas Gun Oil to try but still have 3/4 of that Mobile1 left to use up in the mean time.

I get mine from O'Reilleys Auto Parts. It's always in stock. I drive buy a store most every day, and they are my first stop for auto parts anyway...

I'm going to grab a bottle of the extreme duty. I like the normal red but its messy. I don't know if it's leaking from the top or bottom but everywhere it sits becomes a oil spot.

I just use Mobile 1. The same I use in my truck
No odor. Lubes extremely well and I can fill up a bottle at every oil change

I know what you mean. Not really sure why it does that. Just the design of the cap I'm guessing.

Use it on my guns. Saw it at the local auto shop. Just needed some and there it was. Not a bad deal for what it is.

I ordered this oil after seeing a link for it.

I think I'm in love. This stuff is thick and stringy. I'll hit the range with it soon but so far it seems to have what I want in a gun oil.

Super thick oils are good for 1911 sear/hammer lubrication IMHO. Or grease, but some like real thick tacky oil.

That sear/hammer is one of the places I used it. It makes a good glue to hold those in place while you get the pin in.

I use Lucas products for the performance they offer in Harleys. Guns are not that complex. I typically use white lithium grease from auto zone for lubrication on internal moving parts (one tube of this lasts about year), and MPRO-7 cleaner as a solvent. The only liquid "lubricant" I use is motor oil on external steel parts as a rust preventative, applied with a 1" paint brush. For this task I use whatever generic 30W oil that is on sale at auto zone. A quart of this will last over a year, and I typically fire 6 different firearms a week, every week. I don't have lubrication related reliability problems or issues with rusting here in a highly humid/tropical environment.

I’ve bought and used a ton of different gun oils. I was running down on my last bottle of Slip2000, I saw the Lucas green at a LGS, and decided to give it a whirl. It’s a bit pricey when compared to some of the other stuff, but I like the Lucas green on every gun I have used it on so far.

It’s one of those things that to me is like Ford-Chevy-Dodge, .30-06 vs270 vs7mm Rem, etc. Fun to chat about what’s ok, better, best.. but when we get down to it they all work pretty much the same.

That stuff is terrible smelling oil. Had a sample from Springfield and opened it and got a wiff then dumped it in my engine oil I use on my guns. No mote for me.

I know some spooks who swear by Mobil One. It was all they used with squirt bottles on belt fed machine guns and all their other pieces they used in the harsh (hot and cold) conditions of Afghanistan. That’s endorsement enough for me.

You sure we're talking about the same stuff? I have a pretty good nose and I just opened a bottle and smelled it. Very mild smell, certainly not bad. Could be just personal opinion I suppose.

ATF & STP.

Add Lucas red and tacky grease, until the thickness you want is reached. I use a ketchup like consistency.

Yes it could be but most bad smelling stuff I can stand. It was just foul smelling oil, maybe sat in package too long. Just a sample from Springfield arms with my XDE when i got it new. Oil should be sort of neutral or just smell like oil. I'll look up some in Autozone if I remember.Enjoy your day.

I have tried every thing out there, (not Lucas) but have always returned to Ballistol. And for good reason, my guns all seem to shoot just fine. I do not care how long the oil stays on. Why, because I clean my guns right away. And I love Ballistol in my Sonic Cleaner. Leaves a very fine film of oil. To all my mags in the Sonic Cleaner. I have a number of gun that I do not shoot much anymore, some old rifles etc. I just wipe them down onnce a month and Ballistol has done wonderfully on all my Wood Stocks.
