Beretta Pico

When manually racking the slide on my new Pico to load a fresh mag there are times when it stops for a moment and then continues on normally. Twice it stopped completely, but when I moved slightly it finished racking properly. (The gun does shot low on the first shots from a fresh mag and then more point of aim after. I don't think its do to this though)

On Subsequent rounds the slide functioned normally.

My guess is you are not pulling all the way back and sling shot. Remember to use your elbows for leverage. It becomes second nature once you get the habit. (Not saying you do not already do this, but just assuming)
I have arthritis in my off hand thumb, but have no problem racking the slide this way.

Mines going back to Beretta, their customer service seems legit so far. I really hope they fix it. I do like it, I think the recoil spring is way over kill though. There's no reason for the slide to hang up when you chamber a round pulling the slide back slightly off the lock and letting it go, if it jams up I would say that's improper function. Other semis I own, and trust completely, have never had a slide stoppage that I recall. I've sold off any semi I've owned that jammed.

Been following this thread... Really sorry to hear about the ordeal you're having to go through, 98s1lightning! :(

As most of the others here have noted, my Pico (with the updated recoil spring) has been reliable -- at least with the 200+ rounds of flat-point WWB ammo I've put through it. I hate that you got an anomaly.

I had a Pico and really wanted to like it, but kept having an issue with the trigger not resetting. Sent it back to Beretta twice with no improvement and they finally replaced it. Replacement Pico did the same dang thing and Beretta gave me a refund. They didn't argue one bit which made me wonder if it was a known issue.

Yea. I was wondering if they give you your money back. If it doesn't run when I get it back I will be asking for a refund and I will probably be giving up on pocket guns.

There is not much out there to choose from for NON BUTTON mag releases and that's what I'm after.

If HK would make a micro I would be all set. I doubt they will ever spend time and money on a such a project. A micro isn't exactly a battle weapon and it seems HK' s heritage is battle only type firearms.

Great info on the Pico, I have been interested in one of these for a while.

My Pico has the same issues. I put about 500 rounds of varied target ammo through it and maybe another 100 or defense ammo. This thread inspired me to finally get around to calling Beretta about it. I kind of forgot about it since the pistol was so low cost in the first place. Very interested to hear how your pistol comes back to you.

Mine did the same thing, but a quick trip back to the factory fixed it. It has been over a year and the trigger reset issue has not reappeared.
This also happens on my Diamondback db380 when it gets dirty, so maybe the tiny springs in these micro guns are just more sensitive.

WOW. I'm impressed. They picked this up last Monday which was a 4 day business week because of Good Friday, and I would have had it back yesterday but missed them. I picked it up today from mail provider, I just run a mag of round nose ball, a mag of gold dots, and a box of flat nose jacketed and the gun runs 100%. I'm shocked at how awesome Beretta customer service has treated me seriously they fixed this pistol the same day they recieved it basically!!!!

Now what holsters to buy.....

And I gotta get me some Beretta swag to represent, you know I will be telling people about this positive experience! Seriously that kind of service on a 200 dollar gun!?!?!?! To me, unheard of.

GO BERETTA

OUTSTANDING...!!! :)

Am so glad to hear about the happy outcome, and that Beretta did right by you!

Anyone try a desantis pop up holster with the Pico?

If so got a pic and item number? Looks like there's a few different models where the stitching around the trigger guard varies. Pico is not an option on desantis site.

How did you contact them? Not as obvious on there site as others or I'm just not seeing it for some reason.

On holsters I'd avoid the sticky holster. The sights rise up too high and snag on the lip of the holster pulling both out of the pocket. I ended up making a leather holster for a pocket.

I called customer service from my manual

For a pocket holster I would contact Alabama Holster, personally. Takes them awhile to make it (6-8 weeks) but I like them. I also like PJ holster but I always have them do a few mods to the holster to get it the way I like it. They usually get it done in a week or so.

I ordered an uncle Georges wallet. And I will also be trying a frame mounted spring clip with the special 3M tape from clipdraw.

Still getting used to the loaded chamber wallet holster deal. It goes against the most important rule of gun safety to never point a loaded gun in an unsafe direction. Every time you sit down with it in your back pocket it points straight at the back of your leg, if you front pocket it in a jacket, inside the wallet, every time you sit down it points at the top of your femur. BUT the mechanics of this heavy double action, shrouded hammer, and trigger covered by wallet holster make it impossible to fire the weapon. To me its still a weird feeling.

Do you guys that wallet carry or front jacket pocket carry (in wallet) agree, that any physical activity goes like work in the garage, sit on it, cut firewood, jump in and out of truck, kneel down providing you don't risk it falling out of pocket. Just assume it will NOT fall out of pocket in all situations above. Do you guys do it all no worries?

I think it's a good discussion that MANY people think about.

I love the Pico. Bought it on sale at bass pro for $199 then used a $50 coupon I had lounging around. 500 flawless rounds through it. Modified the mag extension with my leatherman. DIY pocket organizer and I have a near perfect summer carry system
