Interesting, sort of surprising they did this since I don’t think the APX is selling well based on the $75 rebate they have been running. I could be wrong though I don’t have any actual numbers just an assumption. Hopefully it’s a nice one since it is certainly competing in a crowded market.

As a Nano fan, I want one. Why, because it is a Nano.Same dimensions, weight Height etc. The new Gen now called the APX Carry will now feature a slide lock and the new Serrations. Changes in grip. The trigger will still be a DAO which I love, but still will not appeal to the light Striker fire trigger crowd. It will still use the same mags etc. I personally Liked the fact that the Nano did not have a slide lock, but they at least did a great job of recessing the new one. If this means the price might drop on the Nano, I might just get one as I have always wanted to have a second. That said, I want to shoot the new model. Probably do not need a crystal ball to say I will be purchasing.

Here is a better Pic to see the differences.
slide lock
grip change
added more texture to grip
trigger guard larger
Much nicer Serrations

Isn’t the nano a striker fired action?

Would that give it double strike capability?

I had a Nano and liked it. I may give it another try. The trigger was very squeeze bottle-ish. If you were looking for a glass break, you need not apply. However it was progressive without being spongy if that makes sense.

The Nano is you're typical one and done striker fire trigger. Actually, it had a feature I never used but I guess was novel inasmuch as you could release the striker with a push of pin. I'm not sure how much service it provided. I'm guessing for take down safety, but i could see it being useful for those half-rack types that like to have one in the chamber but want to carry "safely" with an unlocked striker. A quarter rack would reset the striker if that is your cup of tea.

If I were looking at a single stack 9mm right now, it would be between the Nano and a PPS. Not 10 bucks between them.

I did like the Nano trigger, but it is not fofor everyone.

Yes the Nano is a striker fired gun.Actually the first striker fired gun made by Beretta. But it is a double action. No it does not have restrike capability. I personally love the Nano trigger. One reason I bought it was to get away from light striker fired guns. And it is a smooth double action. Folks that want a light striker fired gun with a short reset will not like the new APX Carry but those that want a double action will be very happy. I really like the way they did the Beaver Tail and the Serrations. Big improvement over the Nano. And they added grip texture on the grip, another complaint against the Nano before. Many said it was too slippery. I just used a Talon grip.

This new APX looks interesting. Will wait on some other brave soul to give it a trial run.

I doubt that there is much difference the gun other than the grip and added features. I would order one Immediately and without hesitation other than the fact that my Kahr arrives tomorrow. Frigging Kahr Magazines are sure expensive. And not easy to find. Kahr CM9 only ships with one mag.
I presently have a dozeb Nano mags and IMO are about the finest mags I have seen. From what I have heard they are the same mags so getting a second Nano, or should say new APX will be a easy decision. And they ship with two.

Here is a pic of the Steel sub chassis which appears the same.

One thing for certain, even with the upgrades, my Nano is not going anywhere. I could care less about the Slide Stop addition other than it should squelch the folks that complained about not having one.Actually wish the new model did not have one.

So if the sub chassis is the same I wonder if that means one could, in theory, transform their Nano into one of these new guns.

I know its impracticality costly, just an academic thought. I wonder if the slides will interchange? Or more importantly, the grip frame. I have never cracked a replaceable grip frame, and I anticipate there are enough Nanos out there that they will be available for a long time, but I'm just wondering.

My LGS has the Nano on sale for a good price flirting with what a pocket .380 is going for. I'm on the fence as to what makes the most sense.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a number of questions and will be calling Beretta in the next couple of days. And from every thing I have seen, the new model will accept the Pico and Nano sights. Adjustable and replaceable.Easy to add night sights of your choice.

Would be hard to lose grip on those.
I handled a full size APX when they first came out. I thought it was hideous and the cocking serrations were god awful looking.

Then I cycled the slide and wowzers I don’t think you could lose your grip if your hand was wet and the slide was covered in grease. Very effective.

They remind me of the cocking ears on a HK VP9, only repeated several times.

This is a cool little offereing.

It makes a lot more sense to me now that it appears to be a cosmetically updated Nano and not a completely redesigned APX. Pretty good move on Beretta’s part, keeping the family resemblance.

Scootch also did a preliminary review on the Prototype but will be doing a full review later. Again, most folks that do not like DAO triggers will not be interested in the Nano. FYI here is a description written back in 2012 and a review of the gun. His only con was the fact that it did not have slide stop.

"It has a Glockish pivoting safety lever on it's face. but unlike the Glock, requires a virtually full forward reset for the next shot. In other words, the trigger looks like a Glock's, but feels like a Kahr or double -action only Revolver. There is a very short, light take -up as you start the pull, quickly meeting a firm resistance. From there. it's a fairly consistent pull, which on my Lyman averaged 7 pounds, 3.1 ounces. The faster you run the trigger, the smoother it seems
Massad Ayoob 2012"

One thing I did not know, was that the Nano has "Standoff" ability.
Here is the full review. A good review and might also be enjoyable to other owners of a firearms issued with early release issues and how they can be blown out of proportion.

The more I look at this gun, the more I think I prefer the bar of soap smoothness of the Nano. It really didn't have a snag point on it. I used to tuck mine IWB in a sticky holster on trips to the store and whatnot.

But for myself it did need a traction grip. Especially for long sessions when my hand would get sweaty. And I do like the new serrations. Beat the grip tape.

Now that they have proven that they can ingest Nano into the APX family, I can't wait for the APX treatment to Px4.
