Camo observation

Once the leaves fall I love ABU camo pattern for still and treestand hunting.

But as long as the camo pattern isn’t dark, just about anything will work. Movement, or lack there of, is much more important than camo.

I haven't found ABUs to blend very well into any background EXCEPT...... Wyoming sagebrush, on top of which the pattern is basically invisible.

It blends pretty well into trees and rock outcroppings where I live. My other favorite camo is Natural Gear. But I wear it primarily as my really cold weather camo. I just don’t think you need all of it. I kill deer early season in a gray or brown tee-shirt and khaki shorts or slacks. Occasionally if it’s cool, I cover my shirt with a hoodie of green or brown.

If a person wants to wear camo, there’s nothing wrong with it. If you FEEL more hidden, you’ll have more confidence. And that helps a hunter as much as anything.

All I’ve used the past 10-12 years is the old school woodland camo bdu pants and an earth tone flannel shirt or an old Cabelas Gore-Tex jacket in woodland pattern. I tend to kill more (and bigger) critters than most other people I know. Having “woods knowledge” seems to be more valuable than spending big money on camouflage to me when it comes to hunting.
