Posted over in Bladeforums but am posting here as well. Does anyone have any experience with products from Sato Sword Forge? I am looking for something with a clay hamon that is functional but primarily for display. Link here: https://www.satosword.com/

Yes sir. If I could make a comparison with firearms, if I were to want to display a Colt SAA or early 1911 I would want one that was functional as opposed to a non firing replica. I'm also into hamon and see that as its own artistic quality and the swords and tanto at that company appear to have authentic hamon (except for the cheapest models whose hamon appears to be only cosmetic.)

I own one of their pieces. I am happy with my purchase... however, have to tell you that yes it is functional but has no smithing signature, and the blade itself did not look completed at the tip of the Shinken. The wood work is good, but the saya is not made out of the best materials, but it does have horns at both ends respectfully. The saya is easily cut when performing sayabiki, and also has a problem with keeping the sword locked in. Other than those details, the sword performs exactly as it should. You can also get in touch with them from their "Contact Us" section of their website. I hope my comment was a little bit helpful. I will be doing a review on my current sword to show what to expect when getting use out of the SatoSwordForge swords.
