Is .38 Super sufficiently uncool?

I recall what General Patton said about pearl grips, though it always kind of made me wonder how he knew about such things! And as far as pearl grips go my brother has a nickel plated Colt Model 1908 .380 Pocket Hammerless with factory pearl grips and that gun with those grips is the cat's meow!

Y'all are a hoot. I like both as well, I just can't learn to love the fourty.

I learned to love the forty when it is chambered in an M1911 even if it is a squared off Sig 1911.:)

Ditto for the 357 Sig.

The extra heft of an M1911 really makes them pussy cats to shoot. I have one of each by the way.

So, I need help. I have always fancied a 1911 in .38 Super. The 1911 is sufficiently uncool with the europhiles and tectikewl crowd that I feel confident there. But I'm hoping some millennials and 9mm aficionados will tell me how hopelessly out of date, backwards, useless, and otherwise uncool the .38 Super cartridge is so that I am at no risk of being trendy, up to date, or 'with it'. God forbid.

Unfortunately, the .38 Super is not nearly unknown enough to be cool. You need a .310 Cattle Killer or a .45 Wildey Magnum for that. If you visit a range with a .38 Super, all of the millennials will laugh at you. At least you could still tell them to get off of your lawn.

Don't get me back on the .45 Wildey trail again. I went waaaaay down that rabbit hole and almost bought one of the damn things ;-)

Just to be clear, the distinction between the effectiveness of a comp on a 38 Super versus a 45 Auto came down to what bullet weight was usually used for these calibers. If the calibers used the same bullet weight (and gun powder), the compensated 45 actually had a wee less muzzle rise than the compensated 38.
Except I was using 185 gr SWC practice loads and 200 gr SWC Major loads. Show of hands, how many of you old IPSC types were using 185s or 200s in your Supers?

Hugely uncool, so it won't embarrass the other firearms in your safe, and the Your O Peeans will hold their nose up at your choice as you prefer.

If you're going to go uncool, go really uncool though. Like, blued finish, custom gun:
