Midland BackPack insert question choice of caliber.

Suppose the end of the world came as we know it, and you only had one weapon. The Midland Back or similar single barrel shot gun with a 18" barrel.k in 12 ga.
You were given two 8" inserts, the 22. cal and the 9mm. And the choice of picking one more insert. Which would you choose.

Please this is not to compare other shotguns, pistols etc.
Do not consider reloading as a option
This is not to rate the gun.
Just your caliber pick.

By the way here is a target I shot when new at 25 yards with a 9mm insert. The shotgun only has a bead site and a small grove in the rear.
I have no doubt that 90% could do better than I could with this setup. But will give you a idea of what it is capable of when New and not much practice.

Say what? That seems like total nonsense. Can you give some kind of reference or example. I am just trying to find out what caliber. If you do not want to vote fine. But there is no need for this. If a moderator thinks I posted some violation then Please remove.
And I specifically asked for no mention or referring other pistols or fire arms.
Just a caliber preference.

I searched around for other insert companies and they had other calibers like 357 etc. But all were smooth bore. I do not have any experience in that area.

And I might have to do another poll where availability is NOT a issue. Just the caliber of your choice at pistol distances to 25 -50 yds. And remember the insert is a 8" rifled barrel.

As for calibers. I’m not an expert but what you need depends on the objective.

There are tons of end of civilization as we know it threads on lots of forums that suggest what to have.

And I don’t think it’s nonsense to say I’d rather have three dedicated weapons.

If you’re looking just for what you have that’s a different question. And different answers. Just because I disagree with your approach doesn’t mean mine is nonsense.

How about just picking a caliber of choice?

Having a 12ga would handle many of the Power needs for close range. Of course the 22.cal would be a must. The 9mm has plenty of availability. And of course you can shoot slugs. I think you might be right, the 45 Colt might be the way to go. I want to spend more time shooting slugs with this shotgun and most likely will buy a The Acp insert just to get a feel of shooting 45 and then move to the Colt for regular times of just carry.
One thing I do like about this firearm is the single barrel shooting A box of 9mm for instance last a LONG time and just fun to shoot.

This thread about a single barrel backpack shotgun, does not have to be about SHTF. Again, It is a back pack shotgun. And one that you cab bring a simple insert along.There is no other discussion about any other firearms. Just a shotgun and insert.I should have edited it to just ask the question of what insert would you choose. And t the versatility of the little light weight shotgun.
