I don't get to the range with my Henry lever-action .22 often enough, because every time I DO, I think "I don't get to the range with this gun often enough."
Working that lever, seeing the empty go flying, the snick-snick sound of the action, the solid feel of a wood stock and metal frame (even if it's not purely steel, it's still very solid) all add up to a profoundly pleasing aesthetic experience. It doesn't hurt that at 25 yards I'm shooting one ragged hole with cheap Wallyworld ammo, either. Yet another bonus: It will chamber and fire ANYTHING that is .22 caliber. I went out and got those Colibri rounds by Aguila that are actually LESS powerful than an airgun, and fired them into a bullet trap inside my basement. Quieter than a BB gun, and worked just fine.
I just love that darn gun.

The last time I qualified with my Glock 19 I missed 4 Shots out of 30. The four shots that I missed were right outside the scoring ring at 7 yards

Even though I've not fired it in a long time, it's had thousands upon thousands of rounds through, mostly my own reloads.......

Well there's one, no two, maybe three, actually it's four... Who am I kidding? It's all of them!

To be a little more precise it's the accurate and the reliable guns that give me the most satisfaction. That would include my Colt Combat Commander, Ruger Mk.II .22 Target Pistol, Beretta Model 70S, Browning Hi-Power, Ruger Vaquero, S&W Model 686, and my Ruger 10/22 rifle.

Ouch, my head.

At this moment... I'm with the two 1911 posters above me. Any 1911 in my safe, my Ruger is newest so that's the one that's seeing the most daylight recently.

Those Henry's are nice. I'd really like one of their pump .22's one day.

Right now it's probably this rifle:

CZ527FS in .223 Remington. While I shoot more rounds through pistols lately, my first "love" is definitely rifle shooting. I get tired of getting kicked around by my .30-06 after about 10 rounds, but I'll happily shoot a .223 until I run out of ammo, no matter how many rounds I bring with me. I should get an updated picture, as the CZ now wears a fixed 4x Leupold scope. It's no trick to keep rounds in a 50' slow-fire pistol target offhand at 50 yards, and 10-shot bench rested groups will hold the 10-ring of the same target at 100 yards with just about everything I've fed it so far.

I plan to get to shooting it at 200 yards once my foot is healed and the range schedule is open. Hopefully around Memorial Day. Again, I might be just as happy standing and plinking at clay targets at 50 and 100 yards. We'll see.

Honorable mention to just about anything in .22LR. A .22 rifle, some spent shotgun shells and a sunny afternoon are a great way to practice offhand shooting.

Remington model 12 pump 22 lr. Solid, slim easy carry, accurate, sweet style from a time they made real guns. Then the 10-22 with a lot of after market up grades, is certainly a fun gun.
If it's center fire, it's levers in one of the 8 different calibers, the most carried and always close to hand when home is the Browning 92 in 44.
Well then there' the bolt guns. Revolvers, forgot for a moment about revolvers. This is very difficult question. It's had to place favorites. If I had to pick one, let me see, it would have to be the Remington model 12, Browning 92- 44, Winchester 30-30 saddle ring, Winchester 71, Winchester Featherweight model 70 in 30-06. This is hard. WVGunman is just trying to tie us up, most be a trick question.

I'd have to say my SP101 357 DAO with its enhancements brings me the most pleasure when I shoot it. The glass smooth trigger and light pulling hammer allows me to stage shots for higher accuracy. If I'm out shooting with other revolvers, I have to shoot it last because once I start with it, I don't want to put it down.

Most satisfying:
Rifle: a TVM 50 caliber flintlock. Beautiful, full length stock, 42" barrel, and a butt stock made to fit me. It is gorgeous, the lock is fast, and it can knock over steel targets at 100 yards. And I love the slower pace of shooting traditional muzzleloaders.

Handgun: A Ruger Blackhawk convertible in 45 Colt and 45acp, blued with a 7.5" barrel. It can handle any load within reason but can be turned into a popgun and it is accurate in both calibers. I can't even guess how many thousands and thousands of rounds, mostly cast bullet reloads, I've put through it over 35 years but it still locks up tight and the bore shines. And it feeds my cowboy fantasies when they occur. :D BTW, Ive probably fired more 45acp through the Blackhawk than any of my semi-autos.

I really appreciate my old, weathered, and quite honestly rough looking, hunting rifles (2) and shotgun. I often catch myself looking at them and remanescing about how each ding, dent and scratch came to being. Each one tells a tale of a fun, frustrating or satisfying hunt. Almost like a history of my hunting experiences. Weird?, Probably, but it brings me satisfaction and comfort. Like old friends.

Me too, even though I am a Glock fan and shooting them brings me satisfaction also. Actually, I started out with 1911 in the Army and started shooting USPSA with 1911.

Something about the heft of my Sig 1911 and solid cold feel of steel in my hand. And when hammer drops from clean trigger release, "THUMP" heavy push on the hand makes me grin and gives me satisfaction uniquely different from other pistols.

Heh. Sorry! :D I agree about old-school manufacturing. Think that's why I like my Henry. It's not a pre-'64 Winchester, but they cut fewer corners than a lot of other brands. And a pump .22 is on my list too. Maybe another Henry!

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well-represented .45 ACP is on this thread. But looking at my on experience, guess I should not have been. A very versatile cartridge, appreciated by many.

Most satisfying would have to be my 10/22 with reflex sight. Not a precision shooter with the reflex but moment of jack rabbit, or steel plate no problem. Just lots of fun and so cheap to feed.

My CZ527 Varmint in .223 puts the most meat on the table shooting central Texas sized deer from a blind. Rifle capable of precision shooting but I am not.

Most fun and satisfying rim fire handgun would probably be a tie between my Baretta Neos with red dot and my SS Single Six.

Center fire handgun would again be a tie between my Security Six (shown in my avatar) shooting mostly 38 Specials and my Super Black Hawk shooting 44 Specials.

I shot big boomers in both handgun and rifles for years and still do occasionally but these days I just don't feel the need.

I always enjoy shooting my S&W Model 63. DA, SA, one handed, weak handed its always enjoyable.

I took out my new Marlin 1894C in 357 this week and forgot how much I enjoy lever guns. Makes me long for matching SA and DA revolvers to go with it.

It just depends on my mood. Sometimes I want to sit down at the bench and shoot little tiny groups with one of my custom heavy barrel rifles or to ring steel plates at 600 or 800 yards. Other times I want to shoot a good score on a bullseye target with one of my 45's or 22's. Sometimes I want to knock some bowling pins over or clean the rack of steel plates. Sometimes I just want to feel the nostalgia of shooting one of my revolvers with a cast bullet. Or to shoot one of the guns that I inherited and to remember that person and the influence they had on my life.

Its complicated!
