I am pretty proficient with my ria at 25 yards but took some practice. Id get the ria m1911a1 then if you dont like it you arent out a ton of money. I plan on getting a kimber soon but ill never get rid of my ria i love it. This thing eats everything i feed it including +p. 1557501166644570404382.jpg

Update:

The eagle has landed, and it’s an Auto-Ordnance plain Jane 1911a1. Picture attached!

So far all I’ve gotten to do is fondle it, and it feels great in my hand.

I took it apart for a cleaning/degreasing/cuddle session yesterday and discovered it was a little trickier than the Glock or MnP, but not too bad.

I have a minor issue though: since I’ve reassembled it from field stripping I’ve noticed that the slide stop easily comes loose and will back slightly out. The pin end is right where my index finger rises when it’s not on the trigger. It is very annoying and since this is m first 1911 I don’t know what to make of it and would like to make it stop.

Enjoy your A/O 1911-A1.

If you want to age those grips?

1. Clean'em with mineral spirits.
2. Spray'em with flat black Rustolium BBQ paint.
3. Immediately wipe them down with a paper towel and mineral spirits, until you get a clean towel.

I’d like to say that those are the three I’m considering right now, but if there’s one I missed feel free to suggest it. I’m in Massachusetts so some pistols can be hard to get if they’re a bit obscure.

Being you are in MA, you are really limited. Check out four seasons in Waltham, probably the best deal you are going to find. If you end up on GunBroker, there is a dealer in Quincy that does cheap transfers. Make sure what you are looking for is on the roster

Update: I think I found the issue. When my finger is off the trigger it rests just on top of the pin end of the slide lock. When I manually rack the slide I think I was putting just enough pressure on it that when the takedown notch would pass by it would back out about 1/16”.

Glad it’s me and not the pistol, phew!

That would do it!
You’re not the first I’ve heard of doing this. Enjoy your new pistol.
