After posting an interior photo of my back yard mancave on another Rifle Country thread last week, I decided I should probably butch things up in there a bit.

Hanging actual working firearms on the walls of an unsecured building in the People's Republic of California -- especially next-door to an elementary school -- is an invitation for a visit by the local SWAT team, so that was out. How I envy you guys with large, secure, dedicated gunrooms!

I considered various other possibilities (military prints, paper firearm models, etc.) before it occurred to me that the guns which give me the greatest pleasure are the ones I actually own, and that next best thing to having them in front of me would be a good photo of same. So I took a couple last night; I had them blown up into 10x30" prints at Sam's Club, adhered them to masonite backing with Mod Podge and then screwed them onto the slanted 'coffers' around the ceiling. I like the effect -- this weekend I'll do the other side.

I’m trying to figure out how I want to put together a lamp or some other home/office decor with the spiral fluted barrel from my Seekins Havak with the SilencerCo ASR brake installed. Best idea so far is an upward cone lampshade from the muzzle brake. I think I might turn a large cartridge on my lathe maybe as a scaled 480 Ruger cartridge pen cup or scaled 6 Dasher cookie jar type box to stand beside it on a wooden base. Still brainstorming this one

I asked the ol lady last week if we should hang four TC Hawkens on the wall.
Don't really MZ hunt anymore.
And they get more expensive every year.

I know where a Cougar is, for sale.
Have the Silver Elite.
Can score a standard Hawken easy enough.
Dunno how many Supremes were made.

Under 2k to have the set.
Of course, I paid $315 for my Silver Elite when new ;)
That helps.

I think a 4-5x scaled-up ASR brake, maybe from painted wood, would make an awesome kind of art deco lamp all on its own!

Perhaps you can come up with a wall display that starts with just one or two, and then you can add to it over time (unless you're just trying to convince the good woman that you need more rifles. . . ).

BTW, have you seen this wall display system?

Being from Maine where guns are fare more common. I have a M1891 mosin hanging on the wall in the living room, a M1 garand in the man cave. and planning on making a mount for a AR15 in the basement. At least 1 out of 3 people i know have somekind of rifle/shotgun hung up in there living room.

Another option would be to find some older nonfunctional firearms to put on display.

At The beginning of the year I dragged my old wood gun cabinet out of storage and placed my broken Marlin 60 in it to display.

When I'm able to I might get out the next gun show that comes around for inexpensive broken guns to display

I had a neighbor in North Carolina that had an old Winchester 94 hung over his fireplace in a glass cabinet. I asked him if it was in good condition and he said “It’s all messed up. It won’t fire”.

One day we had a ruckus on the street in front of our houses. Kids fighting over some inane BS...anyway, he comes out the front door carrying that Winchester. I didn’t say anything at the time as his appearance quelled the ruckus real quick.

The next day I asked him what the deal was with the Winchester. He said “Oh, it works fine...don’t tell anybody.”

Anyway, I said all that to say his glass case was super nice. I am considering getting one make to hang a gun over my mantle.

Pretty much same with the rifle on the wall in my living room. I just tell people its patched together from parts and it will not fire a around. And if you could get it to fire. It would be a hand grenade. Tho it will work just fine

I always wanted to do my study up as a replica of Marshall Dillon's office on Gunsmoke.
Turned-leg heavy table desk in a corner, rifle rack and Winchesters above right, fake brick wall board on all 4 walls, small pot belly stove perched on a box, the coffee pot, and map of Kansas on the wall. The whole shebang.

Hey Stumpy, I'd love to see that Matt Dillon Marshalls Office-study. Post some pics if you get it done.....by the way, hope your screen name doesn't imply you might have a limp like Chester.

Some day I'll do it.
And no, no limp. Just old and fat and not what you call tall.

Or Festus -- the neighboring town of Clovis, CA has a statue of Ken Curtis in his Gunsmoke guise, standing guard next to a bank:

Personally I'm a fan of the old half-hour B&W Gunsmoke format, but I liked both Weaver and Curtis about equally as sidekicks.

If you do the Marshall's Office, don't forget that line painted around the brick wall!
