I would appreciate any help or Input on sight adjustment on series 70 colt nib. vismc star pistol sight vise is what im looking to use. Been loading lead swc w/ MBC 200 gr. w/BE and 45 odd ball 200 @ 5.7/5.6 do very well like the old military round. Really $ wise should i just adjust the sight and not scar the gun w/a little wd40 and adjust or NOVAK sights? I guess im looking for the right tool angle measurements on removing the rear sight and do i need to money wise? Any help would be appreciated! Let me add thank you to Evolution guns works for alot of fun and learning on my 45!

Uh you have a NIB Series 70? But you've been shooting it?

ANYWAY. Many of the universal sight adjustment tools will work. (B&J Machine, MGW, NcStar, Wheeler, Beretta...)

How much do you value an original Series 70? If you want to retain it as original, it might be cheaper to let a friendly smith move it for you. Buying a quality drift adjustment tool can be expensive for just one adjustment.

Personally I thought the tiny front sight on mine was the pits, so I had my front and rear machined milled to take Dawson FO front and rear. It's a shooter not a safe queen.

BTB, I wouldn't recommend WD40 for any lubricating job. Use a quality light weight gun oil instead.

Umm... Did you know that Colt has been making S70 1911s again for a while now? Not true S70 as they do not have a collet bushing or a captive half cock hammer, but otherwise correct.

I kinda forgot.

Mine is from 1971, so it had a much smaller front sight. I'm now guessing the OPs is a more current production.

Lol no i was lucky to get it plain and simple. If i had KIds lol it would be a safe Queen. I know mr. Bill you have helped me out w/barel bushing etc.. EGW i believe. Thank you both! Was wondering about how good the tool works. Im not avid but try lol. I was useing 200 g. 45 odd ball MBC 18 bhn and was able to straighten them out very well by tweeking them w/BE 5.7 nd a midway colt barell it took me a while to get, Im over max on a Horn. mannual but wow its spot on.
