ExpatI am glad you want to tick off the Yankees (of which I am one!). I love ACW history and have no problem understanding either side, no matter whether one or the other side was right or wrong. One had to live in the day and the age.
I am not a fan of any .44 brasser with the rebated cylinder and the cut water table on an 1851 Navy. I see that yours has a date code [CL] 2013 and it looks like a "tail" grip profile which was discontinued in 2015. I have one from 2014 with the "tail", and I like the feel of it in the hand much better than the newer 2015+ grip profile. It is slimmer in the wrist. Your call.
Nice looking revolver, Bruce.
Regards,
Jim
When the owner of the little shop I bought in in handed it to me to look at , I could not believe how good it felt in my hand and how naturally it pointed. I didn’t know anything about BP at the time ( not that I know a lot now) but I reasearched the gun for quite a while before I bought my shooting supplies. I wanted to make sure I knew enough about it to be confident and safe wh I finally took it to the range. It’s a dream to shoot.
As to the ACW I just got a set of Lee’s Lieutenants on eBay and am starting to reread it. Last read it about 60 years ago. I’ve always been fascinated by “Marse Robert” a great general and a man who I think agonized about the decision to follow his state.
Have a blessed Sunday,
Bruce
