I took the Neos to the range today. Man, for one of the lower cost guns I have, this one has to be one of the more under-rated guns out there. I have the 6" barreled one. And a mounted red-dot on it.

Shooting with CCI Mini-mags and Winchester M-22, the Neos shot where I aimed. It made a nice tattered hole with the hundred or so rounds today. I did have 1 misfeed with M-22. But I don't remember the last time it had a hiccup, other than the time I overtightened the mounting screw. Even with Remington green bucket ammo, it does well.

I'm wondering how other Neos owners experience has been with it?
 
I had one and it was fun and accurate for the price. Trigger wasn’t great, but for the price point hard to complain. I think I paid $250 for it brand new. Take down is easy for cleaning. I did end up selling it and getting a Ruger MkIV, and that was simply because I wanted to use it squirrel hunting and there are no holsters to be found for it, especially with a red dot, outside of generic nylon holsters. Ruger obviously has a wealth of options. If I only intended for range fun with it I would have kept if and saved a bunch of money.
 
the #1 problem of my berreta neos is my ruger sr22. both are reliable, shoot well and easy to fieldstrip, but the smaller sr22 is simply more handy, can be a ccw. the neos’ #2 problem is the unavailability of the aftermarket carbine kit. other than these two “problems” the neos is a well made handgun that often can be had used in fine shape for a low price.
 
I own several Neos that I use in class to train new shooters. Absolutely great guns. The only thing I have to complain about them is the location of the magazine release. Teaching new students to index their finger can be a bit sporting when it sometimes mean the magazine goes spitting out of the gun. I've never had any mechanical problems with them, they aren't finicky on ammunition and they are super easy to take down.

I like them for training because they have all the important bits of their larger caliber cousins: Slide stops, safety, magazine release button, slide that can be manipulated... And the shooters all seem to like them too.

I have a pair of the pistols with 4.5" barrels,,,
A spare 6" barrel, and a third pistol permanently mounted in the carbine kit.

Yeah, the triggers could be better,,,
But after 8 years of range plinking they aren't bad at all.

I have Ruger 22/45's as well as several other .22 semi-auto pistols,,,
The inherent precision/accuracy of the NEOS' is as good as any of my other guns.

The comment I hear from other people is one that starts with, "Yeah but..."

Most people agree that they are inexpensive, reliable, and accurate,,,
"Yeah but, they are so danged ugly."

I believe that is the reason they get so much bad press,,,
Many people are so turned off by the "Buck Rogers Spacegun" look,,,
They reject them out of hand and never actually give them a fair shooting trial.

I can't blame them,,,
I've passed on guns I think are ugly as well.

I have a 4 inch inox from when they first came out. I still haven't sent it in for the recall. Other than the placement of the safety I think it's a good solid gun. I have bigger hands but not Andre the Giant hands either. With any decent grip the safety is hitting not just my first thumb joint but my trigger finger as well. It's also impossible to work the safety with the gun ready and on target (the 22/45 is not much better in that regard) . And if the gun is safe it's impossible to get the right grip without making it unsafe.
I have also had good reliability with all types of ammo. And get more than adequate accuracy. The rail and sights are usable and the mag has a big enough stud on the side to make loaded comfortable. Takedown is nice. I always throw it on the list of affordable 22s that people should consider and it's a very short list
 
I don't own a Neos and have only shot a buddy's once. While it isn't for me, it functioned fine. It seems to have a great reputation for function/accuracy/reliability. Not sure why they chose the unconventional look and feel. Owners love them though...
 
Bought a Neos for my Wife's first gun. We both love it. Round count at 3K. Very accurate, reliable. Only drawback is that in heavy use (250 rounds of cheap ammo, think "Thunder") when hot and dirty it will cycle slow enough to jam. A quick cleaning and lube at it is good to go.
A great gun for the money.

It looks like it does because it was designed by Giugiaro Design, an Italian car styling company with many iconic car designs. Designing guns is a fairly recent endeavor for the company and its founder, Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Nice collection you got there. I can't say I remember seeing one of those carbine kits before now.

I understand that. My wife's SR22 sees much more range time that the Neos.
 
They're well made, accurate, fun little plinkers. The grip circumference is tiny, but somehow it still works for those of us with larger hands, while being very agreeable to the tiny mitts of our young children. It's a great pistol for teaching kids with.

I have only two gripes:

One, the sight elevation adjustment screw absolutely will not stay put without some kind of thread locker. Maybe that was addressed on newer models, but mine (ca. 2005) would always creep up POI.

Second, it's a bit loud as .22 LR suppressor hosts go, more port pop than even the Phoenix HP22. Functions fine suppressed, but if you're using a good can, you'll notice the NEOS puts a little more noise to shooter's ear than many other hosts.
 
Got one for my daughter (let her pick it out), and it's been great. Seems to prefer Federal Auto-Match ammo and delivers decent enough accuracy though the trigger just okay. One of the nicest things with this gun is the magazines; easy to load, well made, and at the time relatively inexpensive (picked up four of them when I bought the gun).
