The 30-06 is the top side of rifle/Man ergonomics, the perfection of power that can fit into a rifle that is easily capable to be shot and carried by an average man.
It can shoot accurately further than most can see or use their rifle sights, and yet carry enough ammo to be effective in combat.

It IS what all cartridges are compared to.

The 30-06 is much like Grandpa, they worked harder and longer in them old days. Most things compared against such, come up short.

Maybe I've slept under a rock, but I never see AI ammo in factory form.
If we are allowing such reloads on the list, then other wildcats should be too IMHO.
No Lazzeroni stuff on there ;)

Im sure Hornady and Nosler produce 280 AI

Back on topic, 30-06 is the answer, what's the question? But as you can see in the picture. I owe a lot to the wonderful .308 or 7.62 NATO. So I love one and love the other even more because it protected me and friends extremely well. I can't even pretend to care about gun writers and lists.

I really like the 30-06, and 303 Brit, and 7.7 Jap, and 7.92x57, and 7.62x39 and 7.5x55 Swiss and 308 and 30-30.........

My LGS is pretty decent. There's .35 rem, .222 rem and .300 savage on the shelf. Normal stocked stuff.
There's some oddball, like the boxes of Silvertip that came w a 99 in .303 Savage.
Magnums stuff to be had as well.
No .280 AI though.
I'm sure they probably ordered some for a customer.
But it aint stocked.

Ordered.

I can order 6mm or 7mm TCU from some places, commercial reloaders.

Just trying to define "support".......

on the gun store shelf as a regularly stocked item?
can be ordered from manufacturer?
can be ordered from reloader?
