New shotgun (will provide brand and what occurs with warranty service) shoots well, but, finding plastic from wad and burnt powder is being lodged between barrel and entrance to choke tube.

Measured all of the chokes for OAL and distance from leading edge of chokes are all within 0.002".

With any of the chokes installed, a crescent of the barrel machining can be seen at barrel/choke junction in the same location.

When viewing the choke/barrel junction with my borescope, there is a gap between the barrel and choke entrance.

ARGH! Coenctricity & barrel/choke depth seem to be the culprits.

Any other suggestions? Imagine this is a barrel replacement.

That is a big problem, and the manufacturer should correct it. If enough crud builds up behind the tube to force it into the bore it will fail taking the end of the barrel with it. Happens all the time to people who don't screw their tubes in tight and then don't check them while shooting.

Email sent to warranty department Monday evening. So far, no response.

Will make a decision on Friday on next options.

Thanks for the info. Agreed, this is a significant safety issue.

Most important how does this barrel pattern?
If there are machining marks in the bore, the gun should go back under warranty.

Barrel patterns low. Knowing about the coencentricity of the barrel now, make sense.

Will give them a call tomorrow afternoon.

Is it really a gap or just the difference where the skirt meets the barrel?

Sorry that I have been tagged by the juvenile moderator.

Read the first post again - the plastic wad buildup is BETWEEN the choke and the barrel!!!

Third - Read the first post again. With ANY of the chokes installed...........

Fourth - Read post #9 - barrel patterns low....as stated.

YES...it is REALLY A GAP!!!!

I have one that has a muzzle brake built into it that does get some plastic around it. Cleans up real easy with fine steel wool and oil. But since you say the pattern is odd there must be something other. Is the pattern odd with clean barrel? If so how many shots till it's odd? Do the chokes have any burring? If so you may just need them to replace the chokes. Not sure but some gap may be normal. Guess it depends on how much.

No gap between the tube and barrel at all! The tube skirt should not be visible when looking from the chamber end. As already stated, anything that can catch the wad can lead to a severely damaged barrel.

Since you have not been open about the brand and model of shotgun you have,
I am assuming it is something from China.
A clone of a brand made here. The time now is to cut your losses, sell it to someone you
do not know or dislike!
You can forget about trading it in, LGS and gun shops want guns they can sell!
Most shops will turn you away!
Go out and buy a Remington or Mossberg.

Well, you have covinced me now of your juvenile maturity level; good luck figuring this out.

Is it possible you have a remington shotgun and perhaps using the wrong type of choke tube it happens with mossbergs all the time someone screws in a rem choke it looks like it fits but has a gap that freezes the choke tube in place

shotty-Winny-remmy-mossy does not bother me one bit, but when I hear browny, its a different story.

Considering the make and model is not mentioned. I would say call the maker and start a claim. One can not get much help here without knowning the shotgun make, modal, gauge or even pics of the problem. This forum is filled with knowledgeable people that has years of experience that would help if more info was shown.

It has been 12 days since the OP has said anything, good or bad.
Could be that the maker of his gun has resolved the issues with
the choke.

Using the available only warranty service request, twice, no response from manufacturers.

Contacted the distributor that I purchased from, they answered the email within 5 hours and said they would email a return ship document the next day (today).

I called the manufacturer, waited on hold for 55 minutes, and finally talked to a human.

Shotgun is on its way back to the manufacturer. As the RMA indicated, 4-6 week turnaround. Hopefully sooner.

And WHO is this gun maker that puts customers on hold for 55 min.??

I tried to call the manufacturer when I found the problem. At that time, I was on hold forever - put the cell on speaker phone and kept going about my day. Over an hour later, I gave up and filled out the warranty repair request on their website. The latest call, was a last chance effort to contact them. I was the 6th person in line....and waited.
