I can either buy a well worn but still tight single six or a new HRR. I am leaning towards the SS but wanted to get some opinions on the topic.

Thanks

The HRR has a manual safety but it’s still suggested to only carry five. The frame color and barrel/cylinder color are different due to different materials. It’s a fun little gun though. My nephew loves to shoot it. Other than that, buy both.

Is there a price difference? If so, how much? What do you want to use the gun for?
Unless you're looking for a cheap pistol for the truck or for fur-dispatching trapper duties and the price for the HHR is significantly cheaper, like others in this thread, I'd recommend the Ruger for sure.

The older the Ruger, the better I like it. Not that I think they're better than the new ones, I just generally speaking, I like older guns better.

A Ruger vs a Rough Rider. I kinda like the Rough Rider, but it's not even close. Ruger.

This of course assumes that price is not the primary consideration.

Hope the OP doesn't mind me piggy backing on a question here. For those in the know- if you had a choice between an older make New Model single six (say from the mid 70's), or a newer make New Model single six- which would you choose? Neither are three screw.

the ruger is basically a heirloom gun. it could still be working fine and in your family a 100 years from now the heritage maybe, but I doubt it.

Kookla

Older new model Single Six over current new model Single Six. I bought a lot of Ruger revolvers in the '70s; didn't have a problem with any of them. Wish I had a few of them back!
