1634C413-1D3E-4F28-B3FA-799F4D311D39.jpeg I bought a Marlin 60 that is a Remlin in 2011 (my first firearm ever and I didn’t even know what Marlin or Remlin was the time). I have really loved it.

I bought an XT22 in 2012 but later sold it after it didn’t meet my 1.5 MOA expectation I wanted (in line with my 60) and was heavy after I replaced the junk plastic stock with laminate.

The 795 I bought new yesterday is really exceeding my expectations!

The checkering is very sharp. Much better than the smooth plastic xt22 from years ago.

I remember polishing my marlin 60 bolt. The 795 bolt came much better polished this time around. The blueing on the barrel is beautiful.

I will be mounting a 4x Nikon and using this for hunting (the 60 is Tech Sights for plinking and appleseeds). I will be upgrading to a DIP metal Trigger and Trigger Guard, buying a few magazines and putting on a hunting sling. Should be it. I am not a plastic stock lover but for a hunting gun I just view it as a lightweight and reasonable choice.

Hopefully the accuracy is great and I can follow up soon with details!

I will say for all the talk about the 60 and 795 being the same gun, unless something has changed recently, the bolt release is exactly opposite.

I have to pull down the release on the 795 but it goes up on the 60.

Has it always been this way?

Thanks. My goal is closer to 0.6 to 0.7”at 50 yards which is what my Marlin 60 does (scoped and rested).

Women make great shooters. Makes us guy-types be easier in mind when they're home or driving by themselves.
And she does it all offhand, too. Ticks me off because she grudgingly decides to come to the club with me twice a year and then proceeds to outshoot me and the others who're there every week. Still has an issue loading mags, but damned if she can't drill the bull every time.

I bought two 795 a while back one had crooked front sight and wasnt great, the other is straight and a tack driver. Put a boyds boyds lam. stock on it which is way too dam bulky and heavy for a 22. I don't understand why every ham fisted 57 year old with a new range toy thinks it has to have a 4" wide forend with a 19.8" length of pull.

Yup. I saw a 19" M60 with one in a gunshop. It looked nice until I handled it. Felt more like a club than a carbine. I have a good asst of M/G carbines. Nice and handy. Good to here the current 795 is good. I bought 3 when they had the rebates back in 08 or so. Pre Remlins. Kept 1 and gifted the other 2 to my son and daughter. Very handy, light rifles. Very accurate too. Enjoy yours.

I've got a Marlin 70PSS Papoose, which is basically a take down 795. Pretty accurate for what it is, I like it. Promag makes a 25 round magazine for the 795 which also works in the 70. A little stiff going in and out, but works well.

Good luck with yours!

My wife had little previous experience with firearms. One day I took her to the range & we had a great time. She started with a High Standard 22 pistol & later graduated to a S&W Model 19. She shoots very well, handles guns very safely & I'm so very proud of her. I always tell my buddies that it's comforting to know that if I screw up my demise will be sure, quick & painless.

I picked up my 795 a few years back. I got it lightly used from a pawn shop that I frequently visit looking for used rimfires. The owner knows me by first name, and one day they could'nt get their fax to work. While I was behind the counter getting the fax up and running I noticed the Marlin 795 propped up in the corner. I asked about it and the shop owner gave me the back ground on it and that the previous owner was'nt coming back for it, but he had not had time to label it and put it on the display rack.
I asked "how much". He said gimme the $60 pawn and the $10 back ground check. $70 later I got it home , cleaned it. I started it out with Federal auto match which it liked well enough that I didn't bother to see if it would like any other brand of ammo better. Now because of my old eyes I ditched the factory sights and put Williams Firesights on it. It is easily more accurate than my old eyes. At $70 it is the best "bang for the buck" rifle I own.
I hope you enjoy your's as much as I have mine.
