So the rear sight/ mounting block would not come off the new Ruger Hawkeye African 6.5x55.

Mounted a NECG Ruger rear aperture sight and the OEM flip-up sight was redundant and in the way. Was also having a little problem w/ some binding and the ejector not deploying 100% of the time when the bolt was racked a certain way.

So it was sent back to the Mother-ship (gratis).

The same day it was received, the armorer:
- Removed the OEM rear sight. (there's a second blind screw under the keyed flip-up sight, who knew)
- Plugged the Bbl. holes as requested w/ flush allen screws.
- Replaced the Bolt, Sear, and firing pin spring.
- Adjusted ejector.
- Range-tested and included a 50 yd bug-hole 3-shot group test target.
- Shipped it out the same day.

The new bolt is stoned true on the top (when open), fits tighter, and operates smoothly; the trigger breaks like an icicle; and the ejector functions flawlessly under all cycling conditions.

All gratis.

Ruger is good about making things right. I just wish they did a better job of making them right the 1st time.

Cost - armorer hours on spec firearms increases it.

If the majority, CNC manufactured and assembled by chimpanzees, leave the factory spec? Then the ones that require the fine hand of an armorer are a consumable cost.

Pay for what you need - the only down-side is the time.

For me, Ruger spec firearms, either from the factory or corrected, have always been accurate, rugged, and reliable.

I just sent in my P95 in for service, should be there Monday. This will be my first time using Ruger customer service.

Expect more than you asked for.

Broke the flip-sight off a 10/22, so I asked Ruger C/S how I go about buyin' a replacement.

They sent me three or four, gratis.
(guess they thought I was clumsy)

:D

Was mounting the VX-1 2-7x33mm on the Ruger African 6.5x55 to try the fit, and figgered that a lower than the OEM Med./High rings would work.

So the Mother Ship C/S was called.

They said that because of the staggered receiver, for the Low mount, the front OEM Med. ring can be used in the rear, and a new Low ring would be furnished for the front.

Told them there were Two Hawkeye Africans that may be scoped similarly, and gave them the S/N's.

Two Low rings are now in transit, Gratis.

I'm 100% sure Ruger will take care of it, but I bought a NIB Ruger Elite AR lower from the local LGS. I got one out of the back so I never opened the box and I wish I had.

1. The grip screw was SUPER tight but the grip was noticeably loose.

2. The front takedown pin was so loose I could tap the side of the lower and the pin would fall out completely.

3. The rear takedown pin was so tight that a punch and a few whacks from a mallet didnt budge it loose.

The LGS is sending it back for me and I'm positive Ruger will fix it, BUT I expected much better from Ruger and this product should've NEVER made it out of the factory, I paid a premium price for a premium lower and it's not even functional.
